“Lovely place, absolutely beautiful venue and groundsRooms were nice but nothing special, great beds, but low ceiling (sloping roof) had to open the window so i didn't hit my head.Most of the staff were fantastic, polite, friendly and happy to help, a certain one with a little authority did not fit the standards set by their underlings.All in all, great place for a wedding party :)”

“The chalet room we had was small with just a desk and chair, no armchair but it was nice.Food & drinks: We went for an evening meal, I ordered a starter of garlic mushrooms which comes with BBQ sauce, battered cauliflower was brought with a periperi sauce so it was basically the same shape and with the periperi I didn't realise until my wife tried one with her BBQ sauce. I took them back and they exchanged them for fresh cooked ones. The main course fish was good, the peas hot but the chips were luke warm and rubbery. We didn't have breakfast based on the evening meal.”

“Exactly what you pay for Comfy bed, great staff and very clean. The woman on the desk was amazing, I didn’t catch her name but she there on the evening shift on Friday. My rooms were next to each other and both rooms were great”

“What a great location with a great history of this building what they have done with it in a great location from the shops the stuff are ok as it's a Basic hotel no restaurant But there is one Member of staff who went above and beyond helped us so much With directions where to go showed us on maps? Very knowledge of the area and gave us the time Joy sharing some history on the plane ? and for that reason I would come back here the rooms are big and for what you pay is greatThe down side is the WIFI it says on line its free but that is not the case it's 30mins free then you have to pay for the WiFi £3 for 24hrs Normal signal is not available For your daterThe bathroom is ok they are all Covered for elderly people with handles which is a plus side but it's nice when a bathroom has a bit of Character but here it's not but still nice hot water all nice and clean aswellRooms: As it's great to stay here great beds big rooms ?”

“Really enjoyed my stay here.Rooms are decent size for couple or solo traveller.Bathrooms are nice and modern.TV signal is a bit temperamental and the WiFi doesn’t appear to be too strong, but not enough of an issue to be a problem.The restaurant was shut when I was there. As it is located out of town, it means getting food or drink is driving distance.The views outside were amazing. I imagine the outdoor seating area would be incredible during the summer.The hill going up to the hotel is not for the faint hearted. You have to stop at a T junction just before the peak and my word…the only way I can describe it is that my balloon knot was puckering more than a thousand goldfish trying to hill start on it.The pictures don’t do it justice tbf.But great stay.Rooms: Rooms are comfortable. Two single beds pushed together but fine. Bathroom is new and modern, shower was hot.Walkability: It’s at the top of a hill and in the middle of a lot of fields and narrow roads. Walking is fine, plenty of people were doing it. Just be aware the hill into Halifax town centre is very steep and will work the hamstrings on the way back up.Food & drinks: Coffee and tea in the room but restaurant was shut during my stay. It is attached the rooms so would be really great to have a meal and drink there, especially as any other pub or restaurant is driving distance.”

“This bar/hotel is situated right in the heart of Halifax, I have stayed here 4x and love it, Jackie the boss is down to earth and when I say that I really mean it. There is no breakfast served here but there is a weatherspoon a 7 min walk, the shopping centre is right across the road, and it is only a 4 min walk into heart of town centre, the bar offers ales and bottles, Thursdays they do meal nights from 6pm onwards. I would definitely visit again, and again and again.”
