The station opened in August 1850, as part of the then Newcastle & Carlisle Railway and York, Newcastle & Berwick Railway. The store itself is just as you'd expect, but a lot of the items I buy personally are a lot cheaper elsewhere for the same brand and quantity. Avoid if you have cats and want to feed them on the cheap as their cat food seems to be 20% more expensive than Sainsbury's. Otherwise the snack selection and food selection is really good when it is in stock. Staff are lovely, layout is decent, bakery has some lovely scran there. If given the option, give it a try.”

The store appeared clean and hazzard free (Nothing lying around in which someone could trip over) and I found the staff in there to be very helpful and pleasant. I asked a member of staff for some help not knowing they were dealing with another customer and rather than get ignored like most stores they acknowledged the fact I exsisted and told me they would be with me in a few moments. I was waiting no more than 3 minutes before they came and found me and inquired in what it was I needed help with. I will be going back to Cash Converters.”
