“My husband and I have banked here for more years that I'd like to remember. During that time, we've made countless visits to the bank (we haven't quite got around to online banking yet!) for all sorts of transactions and enquiries on an almost weekly basis. Needless to say, we now know and recognise many/most of the staff, and are on first name terms with many. It's nice to see that although the bank is now part of the Halifax group there haven't been too many changes, and it is still a friendly place to carry out everyday banking. The huge advantage for us in our twilight years is the ease of parking and access, as well as the proximity to the other shops and services in the town centre. Shame they pay an absolute pittance in interest on our account balances, but that's the bank rather than the branch at fault.”

“Before you get excited and go looking for Tesco, I should point out that this really is just a slightly overgrown convenience store. However that said, it's a very useful asset to the town and provides a little competition to what would otherwise be a monopoly for the Co-op. I'd say that this store is fine if you're just looking for everyday groceries, and has enough to do even a weekly shop if you don't want anything too sophisticated, but it's not the place to go if you expect to fill a trolley with exotic foods. The checkout area is fairly cramped and seems to be geared up to basket shoppers rather than large trollies (like the rest of the shop, really), but staff are generally fairly cheerful (perhaps they get extra Clubcard points) and the store is bright and clean. Main disadvantage is that although the location is very central, you are likely to struggle to park outside so if you buy a months supply of cat food, you'll have to lug it some distance back to the car!”
