“I can honestly say this pub is a very pleasant suprise. From the outside it just looked like a dated old pub.
BUT the STAFF , SERVICE and FOOD are first class. I inadvertently ordered a dish to hot for my delicate palate and the staff resolved it 100%

The menu is fussion and not poncey but darn good food reasonably priced, this is central York.

Come hungry the portions are generous and leave room for pudding”

“Had a great in store experience at York. Emma was very helpful, asked us if we wanted to use machine to see what mattress firmness would suit us best which really helped in our overall decision.”

“A great place to stay, rooms were nicely decorated and clean, all the staff we encountered were courteous and nothing was a problem for them. The food was great and we had a lovely stay with them.”

“Charming, warm, and full of flavor. The interior had a European bistro feel with tile floors and wooden accents. I had the moules frites—mussels in a white wine garlic broth with crispy shoestring fries. It was indulgent and fresh. Dessert was a lemon tart with just the right amount of tang. Service was friendly, and timing was perfect. Ideal for a date night!!!!!!!”

“Overnight stay on our way home from the Highlands. Rooms clean and comfortable. Plenty of parking Dog friendly. Paid for the full English breakfast, beautifully cooked and presented and plenty of it.

“The staff at this hotel are friendly, helpful and a credit to the company. I have stayed in a number of best western hotels when I have had to work away, and this hotel was exactly as I expected it to be. The room we stayed in was large with a comfortable bed. It was necessary to ask for the room to be cleaned, but the fact that I needed to do so is clearly indicated in the lobby. This is also in line with many other hotels, do this was certainly not an issue. The breakfasts were good, as we're the meals served in the evening. The location was perfect for our purpose of visiting National trust properties in Yorkshire that we had not visited for a number of years.
In short this is a nice hotel , Witham great staff, and I wouldn't think twice about returning there.”

“Sam greeted us when we arrived and listened to what we were after. He explained about the “test bed” and used the results to show us appropriate mattresses. We were able to spend as much time on each bed as we liked with a pillow provided. Sam was never far if we had a question and he was very knowledgeable about the different types of materials and construction of the mattresses. Overall a great experience and we’re looking forward to delivery of the mattress and pillows we chose.”

“We cannot recommend Steve Tarran enough at the Clifton Moor store, he really knows how to be a salesman, delivering all the information we needed but also reading when we wanted time alone to decide and look around. He was very knowledgeable and listened to what we wanted. Thanks so much!”

“My family and I didn't say at this location, but we did have a meal. I must say that our meal was the best we had while in the UK. Thank you to our server (charlie). She was very professional, kind, and friendly.”

“Typical travelodge. We had a superior room which was good and clean but quite small and compact. 10 minute walk to central York. Adequate parking and has a Costa attached if you like their coffee. Didn’t try the restaurant for breakfast or dinner so can’t comment. Drinks at the bar are expensive.”

“Went here for lunch on a Sunday. I wanted the lasagne and was very disappointed that they didn't have any left.... So I ordered the beef Sunday roast. Absolutely perfect. Simply put, it was the best Sunday roast I've had apart from my mum's. Great service and the prices are really good too.”

“Have been a customer at The black Swan for over 30 years on my visits to Helmsley and had many excellent lunches there with friends from USA etc.
Today I visited with a friend for the first time in a few months and found standards had slipped drastically.
The place was far from pristine the food was very poor ...Luke warm and tasteless and the staff ( at first although it was noon a single young man) were under great pressure.
Both my companion and myself were extremely disappointed and will not return again in a hurry”

“Staff were very welcoming, our room clean and very comfortable. Location was about 3 miles from York centre and park and ride was only 5mins from Premier Inn. Ideal to leave car and have a pleasant ride through York. Will be revisiting York and will stay at the Premier Inn again.”

Visited today to collect a mirror, when I arrived with my two children I realised that the box would not fit in my car. The staff were so helpful and took the box back into store until my husband could come and take the car seats and children. Top customer service!”

“One night stay at this Travelodge. Have to say the staff were really welcoming and helpful during our stay. The location for a next day drive to York was also perfect for the price. The only negative was the room. Although reasonably clean there were a couple of clothing labels on the floor from the previous occupant which says they didnt hoover properly. The bathroom was fine and clean. Also one plug socket and usb charging point wasnt working. Reportes this so will undoubtedly be repaired (the guy was straight on it). Overall for a one nighter would stay again.”

“Well what can we say absolutely fantastic people allowed us to stay over in the car park , made us feel really welcome , food was top notch we had the homemade pizza and garlic bread . Got involved with the quiz too packed us some chilli and rice up to take with us will definitely be back thank you so much for your hospitality love from vans for life crew ??xx”

“Just stayed at The Orchard for a few days and it was fantastic! We received such a warm welcome from Pete our host on our arrival. He even provided ice for my G n T on the lovely terrace in the pretty garden each evening! The accommodation is sheer luxury, everything is provided, such a comfy bed and quality bedding. A hidden gem in such a pretty village”
