“Had the pleasure of staying here with my husband for our birthday treat.The room was comfortable, quite and dressed for our birthdays.From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and attentive. They seemed to enjoy working there, felt like a happy family environment.The food and drinks were of the highest quality.We will be returning.Rooms: The bond room is very quirky and chic; the only downside is there isn't a soft close loo lid.Food & drinks: The evening meal and breakfast was delicious. I can honestly say it's the best steak I've ever had.”

“Called in for lunch on the way back from Castle Bolton. Warm & friendly surroundings. Quick & efficient service even though it was a busy period. Prices were absolutely fine in comparison to others in the area. Would recommend & will certainly call back.”

“Just returned from a lovely four nights at Thornton Lodge. Such a peaceful, restful and relaxing place to stay. High quality throughout - large country house, beautiful grounds, exceptionally clean room with high quality fixtures and fittings and everything you'd expect of a 5☆ place. As other reviews mention, our host Vanessa made our stay special, with her warm welcome, local knowledge, quality breakfasts and interesting stoies about the house, it's history and it's renovations and upkeep needs.We will definitely return. “Stopped in Room 6 , Warm welcome From the moment you arrive by the staff especially Ned who was very helpful . We went with friends and all the rooms were nicely furnished and decorated. breakfast was one of the best especially the sausage top marks would highly recommend staying there.”

“What a super pub. We went for lunch with a friend and we’re very impressed with the menu choices. I had the veal chop, chips and mushroom sauce and my wife had leg of lamb. Our friend had the fish and we were all super impressed. I would not have enjoyed the fish but my chop was gorgeous. My wife’s lamb just dropped off the bone so very good choice of venue and we look forwards to returning.”

“Stayed at their Bunkhouse next to the Inn. We went to eat on Saturday night as part of a hen do. My 1st visit but the rest of us had been loads of times. The food is amazing a deffo 10 / 10. I had gammon steak with egg and pineapple, salad and the chunkiest chips iv ever seen. Beautiful!! The rest had curry, sweet n sour, broccoli cheese bake and all said how nice it was. The staff are so friendly. Seriously could not fault this place. It was packed, fully booked so that tells you how good it was. Cannot wait to go again. A lovely lady from the campsite next door joined us for a drink afterwards. All so friendly! Would highly recommend but do ring n book just incase it's this busy”

“We attended a family wedding and booked our accommodation for the night of the wedding. The bed and pillows were so comfortable, we didn't want to get up in the morning, however an amazing breakfast was waiting. There was a good selection of cereals, fresh fruit and yogurts, plus fruit juices. Then came a full English breakfast. Wow, it was so tasty, the sausages were local butcher sausages. The portions were very generous only our son in law managed to eat everything on this plate. Alison and Rachel had only gotten the keys a few days before our stay. They were so friendly and helpful. We would recommend this pub if you are looking for a village location in a beautiful village.”
