“Currently staying here for our wedding weekend. We had a rather large booking for food last night before the big day. The food and service was amazing! We’d been given our own room which was great for everyone to be able to talk to each other and hear all conversations away from other tables in the restaurant. Can’t thank the staff enough for how the night went. They checked on us between courses to ensure the night was going well. I’m sure they would have been very accommodating had a problem occurred but everything was perfect!Just to add the rooms are incredible. Extremely clean, little extras in the room are a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend and stay here again if we have another event or just want a weekend away. Thank you all again.”

“The refurbishment of this hotel took me by surprise, and I must admit the treatment of the cabin area reminded me of my summer season working at Butlins. Not that it was unpleasant, quite the opposite. Each cabin boasts a covered veranda with lounger where I spent a pleasant afternoon with a book and glass of cider chatting to neighbouring residents. Much preferable to those long corridors found in most hotels. The room was a fair size, well presented, clean, and with the biggest bed have ever encounteredThe menu is a little limited and the food lacks that little spark that would set it apart from the norm. However, I would make a special mention of the Sunday lunch which was very good indeed. The staff were pleasant and introduced themselves by name, not a usual experience.Quick tip, Sunday evening sees free sausage rolls put on the bar for pub regulars. Look confident and you can nick one.”

“Only rated 4 star but our stay was fine for the price to be honest. However, the after care service has been phenomenal! We left some glasses under the bed ? and you have posted than back to us. Each time we spoke on the phone the staff were very courteous and friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. The glasses have arrived home today. Thank you!”

“Just terrific. Located in an almost 300 year old building, rooms have been lovingly restored with great care. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was wonderful--clearly the chef takes pride in his work!”

“Stayed at this lovely historical hotel in Winchester. The location is superb for all the shops, restaurants and tourist places. The cathedral is 8 mins walk away if that. There are some lovely features. We stayed in the main part of the hotel in a standard room. There is no lift to the rooms in the main house but it has a lovely extension of rooms on the ground floor with a beautiful garden in front of these. Room was lovely. Loved the white fluffy gowns and slippers. Also ironing board and iron and hair dryer all in the room..Coffee and tea facilities were excellent and biscuits avaliable plus sparkling water. Bathroom shower looked a bit small but was surprisingly spacious when in it. Lovely view of the gardens. Breakfast cost 13 pounds when you book on arrival. Full English or Continental breakfast available. Lively pastries available too. This is a self service breakfast but there were two staff available to help if needed. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back.Rooms: Range of rooms. Rooms in the older main building and also new annexe of rooms overlook a lovely garden.Nearby activities: Fabulous location to nearby restaurants, shops and the Cathedral and other tourist hot spots.Walkability: 3 minute walk to the main streets. Everywhere was so easy to get to.Food & drinks: Breakfast was excellent. All sorts of breakfast available. Served your self but staff there to support you if needed.Noteworthy details: Has a car park though on a first serve basis but can get there a bit earlier and leave the car. Phone the hotel to ask about it as they are very helpful. 12 pounds for 24 hours.”
