“THIS REVIEW APPLIES TO THE RESTAURANT ONLY.
A new Indian restaurant has restaurant has recently opened at Cottons which is in the centre of village. Beautiful food which can be modified to suit your tastes, good bar, new restaurant and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Does a take out service. Great value for money.”
“During my stay at The Palace Hotel Buxton & Spa, I was immediately struck by its grand Victorian architecture and sense of history. Walking into the lobby felt like stepping back in time, with its high ceilings, chandeliers, and elegant décor. The location was perfect—just a short walk from Buxton’s Pavilion Gardens and the Opera House, making it easy to explore the town.
One of the highlights was relaxing in the hotel’s leisure facilities after a day of sightseeing. The pool and sauna were a great way to unwind, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. My room, while spacious, did feel a little dated, and the furniture could use some updating. However, the bed was comfortable, and I had a peaceful night’s sleep.
Breakfast in the morning was enjoyable, with a good selection of hot and cold options, and the dining area had a lovely old-world charm. While there were a few small inconveniences, like extra charges for parking and Wi-Fi, the overall experience was positive. The hotel’s character, history, and unbeatable location made it a memorable stay.
Nearby activities: Walks and stunning caves
Safety: Incredibly safe my son injured himself and was rushed off to be treated in the hotel by increasingly kind members of staff”
“The DB&B package is great for a short stay. Rooms are lovely, spa facility excellent and dinner (always good) was a couple of notches up on this latest visit. BC just can't get the bar right though. The space isn't great. Over the years of visiting, we have suffered slovenly staff who can't be bothered to clear tables. This visit the bar staff were pleasant but clueless. The bar wasn't busy. We ordered a bottle of fizz (which wasn't behind the bar) and the staff went off to fetch it. At this point, we should have been invited to take a seat and told that the bottle would be brought over. We were left standing at the bar. Bottle arrived, asked if we wanted it in an ice bucket (of course). Bucket and bottle handed over with 2 economy stems. Left to open the bottle ourselves. Please get the bar staff trained and purchase some half decent stemware.”
