Exceeded my expectations.Small but beautiful place with an outstanding amount of history behind it and all wonderfully displayed. And so lovely to see it all in working order and the effort put in by the staff and volunteers to raise funds to keep this place alive.

We saw the signs at the Dalegarth for Boot station, having boarded the Raven and Eskdale Railway at Ravenglass. We wondered into the village of Boot and upto the Mill. You can see the water wheel turning without having the pay to go in the Mill, however I would thoroughly recommend paying to look around, to see the inner workings of this ancient Mill was stunning. Plus you get to explore the small but we'll maintained gardens. The model water mill was a fun addition for the kids. Plus the added Bonus of a water fall next to the Mill. You can follow the water from the river through the garden and watch it tumble over the wheel. At £13.75 for a family of 4 it was a small price to pay to help keep this piece of history turning. The volunteers on site were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely be recommend a visit if you like history, waterfalls, exploring.

I highly recommend visiting Eskdale Mill. There is a very interesting exhibition at the beginning, explaining the history of the site and how the mill works. Then you can visit the various rooms and see some of the machinery working. The outdoor part is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. Eskdale Mill is a hidden gem and we would definitely go back!

Spent an hour here and could have spent a lot more but our train departure meant we had to cut things short.Fantastic, friendly and informative staff who took the visit from a stroll around a mill to an immersive experience into times gone by.We will be back to spend more time there and to check out the manager's veg plot ? Thank you guys, it was an absolute pleasure.

Looking at past technology which evolved human race and technological era. It is really awesome experience not just for kids but adults as well. Taking a steam train from Ravenglass to Dalegarth for a trip of about 40 minutes and then walking for 700 yards from station to the mill, all through was such a unique experience. Highly recommended place and kudos to local authorities to develop this in a heritage site. One of a kind experience, one shall definitely go for!!

Fabulous exposition of an old double water mill complete with its own waterfall and natural garden. Hands-on working models for the kids to play with. Plus hydroelectric wheel to demo sustainable energy.
