“Exceptional place, with amazing views of St Austell Bay. We enjoyed afternoon tea, which looked amazing, and it tasted amazing too. The service was exceptional too.”
“Located in the picturesque harbour of Charlestown, Pier House has been reformed to provide a comfortable place for food, drink and sleep. Thoroughly recommended .”

31-33 W End“Had a delicious seafood dinner last night- combined their famous delicious Crab Claw shared starter with a scallop Special & was the best meal out anywhere this summer- even compared to a specialist fish restaurant at double the price.
Staff were lovely & freshly added pieces of quality furniture & lit candles made a lovely
fresh feel to the place.
Highly recommend!!”
“From the moment we entered the store we were greeted by Tim, the Salesman. We bought a whole new range of furniture, he was the most informative about the Products and deliveries, he is an absolute credit to Furniture World. Good delivery service as well”

Treverbyn Rd“Very good. For the family room (which I stayed in), they had a tiny scavenger hunt for 3 pieces of paper and you can win candy or toys. Drawings made by children are hung up in reception.
Rooms: Big, roomy and quiet.
Food and drinks: Nearby is a huge cafe that takes 5-10 minutes to walk to because you have to walk up a huge ramp unless you take a car which will take about 2 minutes. Next to the hotel is a small but very nice restaurant.”
“Stayed for just one night. Room was fine, big bathroom, bed and pillows very comfortable. Nice bar and restaurant, evwning food was ok, generous breakfast. The staff was great. Friendly and helpful. I would stay again.”
“Very nice hotel, excellent restaurant (although hot breakfast buffet is average at best - as is always the case). Good location with plenty to do nearby. Recommended.”
“We had an amazing stay.
Sure, the hotel is dated (I struggle to understand why it’s so dated when it was completely refurbished in 2004 - clearly to a 1984 style guide) but you have to look beyond that.
The team here are brilliant. The reception team couldn’t have been more helpful or kinder. The same team run the bar and do so really well. We were made to feel really welcome and cared for.
The food was very good, the location is perfect. The wildly eclectic collection of furniture is so bad that it’s nearly good. We found the shower was fine, the beds and bedding were clean, the hotel was well managed and kept.
People, not paint, make places and the people here are wonderful.
The coffee needs an upgrade if I’m honest but there’s a great speciality coffee place in Charlestown (the hotel should approach about supplying beans here) which is a 10 minute walk down the coastal path.
The sea swimming here is safe as the bay is very sheltered and the coastal walks are sublime.
Hat-tip to the restaurant and reception staff, they make this place great despite it being a triffle tired.”

Victoria Inn“Comfortable beds, with an amazing restaurant attached. Friendly staff both in hotel and restaurant.Food & drinks: Dirty fries and gourmet burger were amazing. Best I've had in a long time.”
“Working away and stopping here had a good laugh and banter with the staff great night and would definitely come again going to miss them such a great time and enjoyed it would like to say thank you to Sammy and michel for a great eveningRooms: Nice and clean”
“Stupendously amazing! I had high hopes for Boscundle Manor just from looking on here and their website but even then it didn't prepare me for the reality. Photo's just can't do it justice, it's truly beautiful.
The staff are completely dedicated to making sure every guest is happy and well looked after, for instance the cookies waiting for you when you first get to your room, pre breakfast muffins waiting for you when you wake up each day, such simple ideas but ingenious and gorgeous!
Meals in the library are something else, you really feel like you're having a very special meal, it's a very intimate setting and so relaxed, you can't help but enjoy it. There is no rush at all and you're encouraged to relax before your dinner, we loved that the staff call you in just before your meal is ready to serve, makes sense for everyone.
I saw some reviews mentioning the timing system for meals. We loved it! You have lots of notice that this is how breakfast and dinner works and on arrival the staff work out the timings with you, so for us we loved it. Instead of the rush you get at most hotels for any kind of food Boscundle's system means it's a very special, personal service not a rushed cattle market, if you like being part of a breakfast production line then Boscundle won't be for you.
The pool is fantastic, the water is quite cool but given its hot outside that was brilliant and you soon get used to it, it certainly didn't put us off! It's a constant 4ft 6in throughout so no surprise drops in depth.
The grounds are lovely and so many little places to sit and relax but for us the inside is the gem.
The inside is such a mix of new and old in everything and it works so amazingly well!
Clearly there will be bits that aren't perfect but it's an old building so what do you expect!? A good example is the bathroom photo, new modern looking freestanding bath taps next to a much older style basin and taps, it just works!
Now onto the staff, they are just amazing and this is clearly why Boscundle does so well. Everybody is completely committed to making sure every guest is always happy and their local knowledge is second to none. If ever you're unsure what to do during your stay or where to go just ask and they will give you honest suggestions tailored to what you wish to do.
To summarise go for it, it's a beautiful relaxing place with beautiful food and the most lovely dedicated staff.
Our only regret? We couldn't stay longer.....!
Rooms: The rooms are incredible and hard to do justice in photo's but I've tried. The photo through the palm tree is taken from the coffee table outside on the terrace for the Elizabeth room.
When you see 'cosy' don't think that means it's a small room. At Bodcundle cosy means romantic, peaceful, restful certainly not small. For instance oir room was the Elizabeth Cosy room, it had an emporer sized bed with tons of room around it, large ensuite with freestanding bath and large seperate rain shower and it's own terrace, that's not small!
Nearby activities: Carlyon beach is a shortish walk away, Charlestown a longer walk away on the South West coast path. St Austell, Fowey, Charlestown and more all quickly and easily accessible by car. Add to that the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are close-by rest assured you will never be bored!
Walkability: The grounds are lovely to wander around and there are also lots of places within walking distance including the Eden Project and Carlyon beach. We never used our car once during the whole stay.
Food and drinks: Beautiful! The food is gorgeous and well presented. Pre breakfast muffins waiting for you when you wake up, lots of gorgeous options for breakfast and with lovely twists to them”
