“Crown is a fantastic old pub with a hotel above. This is the first time I've had food over the years. The prices are a little higher than you'd expect from a pub mainly due to it being a hotel. Steak and Ale pie was £19, the pie was lovely, tasty dark ale gravy and nice chunks of meat in it. The chips were a little overcooked for my liking and quite hard to bite into but this probably depends on the batch. The beer battered onion rings tasted frozen and were not great.
There is a wide selection of beers, both cask and guest kegs such as Cloudwater which is great to see. Prices again are a quid more than you would pay at other pubs in the area.
Service was friendly and they were doing a good lunchtime trade so the atmosphere was good.”
“As a trio of ladies of a certain age we visited for afternoon tea, Mon 16th Sept.
The whole experience was an absolute pleasure. My mother in law who is in her twilight years (86)said " what a divine, relaxing place Rookery is, the staff were superb they paid attention to every detail".
Her mobility is limited, but that didn't stop us wheeling her around, taking photos & making memories. Accessibility for all facilities were second to none.
What started off as afternoon tea became much more.
We sat on the terrace sipping cocktails, for myself as the driver a mocktail, listening to the birds, watching the horses & soaking up the tranquil atmosphere.
Such a pity we couldn't have stayed to watch the sunset.
I genuinely can't thank the Team enough for making her day so pleasant.
Keep on doing what you do so well!”
