“Arrived to a half empty pub due to rugby World Cup final, not the norm as usually really busy.That said the food and service was excellent as usual. Would highly recommend an evening meal here.”

“This is just such a nice place to stay in a fab part of the country, they also put up with land rovers and mud (don’t worry they have a car park out the back where we hide them) and 4 off us in the group and it’s in a great location for a base for green laneing. The food is excellent and the service great, rooms are spacious and well presented. One day I will visit and just laze around in the lounge drinking tea ..... If your thinking of booking … then just book ….”

“This is the best dining experience in the UK. It can only be a matter of time before this gets the 3 stars it deserves (4 if that was possible). 30 (yes 30) different dishes. Each one was amazing but some of them are standout incredible. The wagyu ‘burger’, blue fin tuna, scallops in wagyu ‘gravy’ - oh my goodness. But it’s also about the service. Mi casa, su casa. Impeccable but friendly. Right from the start they show you the ingredients for some of the dishes and it’s just so welcoming. The music throughout the evening is perfect. Slow at the start and a tumultuous party vibe at the end. Bravo Gareth Ward and all your staff. You’ve smashed this! And anyone who say’s differently is quite frankly wrong. Yes this is a remote location - but you know that when you booked!”

“Visited in mid October. Stayed in a balcony room overlooking the lake. Every time I looked out of the bedroom window it was a wow moment. As hotels can be judged on location, location, this will be one of the top in the UK. The SPA was well attended but did not use myself.Wish the waiters had a more cheerful approach to there work, a few more smiles would be good.Rooms: Large rooms, good seating. Bathroom had a bath and shower. Cleaned daily by efficient friendly cleaning staff.Nearby activities: Great walking area. Area part of RSPB reserve.Food & drinks: Great food well prepared and presented.”
