Fabulous meal after a long hike from Newport to Redwick. Staff were super friendly and accommodating, making us feel really welcome. There were plenty of choices of tables inside the pub and the food arrived quickly after ordering. Very generous with their portion sizes, biggest gammon steak I think I've ever had! Great place for food and drink with friends.

Reopened on 4th July & what a poor start; poorly stocked selection of non-alcoholic drinks, scruffy bar staff and not enough.
They're going to have to up their game to exist I fear.
I will revisit in a month and see what improvement there is.

Passing through from Bristol to Port Talbot and looking for food on a Sunday. Rang through just before 2pm and booked a table for 2.30. Dog friendly.
Very clean pub, light and nice decor. Restricted menu but very nice garlic prawns and garlic mushrooms starter. Lovely Savingon. Young staff that served a promptly and politely. Mains were topside beef and lamb dinner. Well we are a fussy pair and love Sunday lunch so are often disappointed when eating out. Not this time! Plentiful portions, beautiful cauliflower cheese and veg, nice roasters, extra gravy and piping hot! Meat was tasty and there was enough of it.
All in all I would recommend on a Sunday but will have to return on another day to see what it's like then ?

Lovely little pub with a great country inn feel. Located in the heart of the village right next to the square. Definitely recommend visiting The Golden Lion, great staff, good service and a lovely vibe ?

Very nice food and ace. A lovely lamb shoulder cooked beautifully. The roasts were a little under done if I was hypercritical. Roast choices were lamb, chicken, and beef. Well worth a visit.

Loved this place from start to finish. Down to earth and genuinely friendly staff. Nice homely, traditional atmosphere. Awesome background music! THE FOOD was fantastic! We only attended for lunch and to meet a friend, so we only had sandwiches with chips, but boy were they spot on! Lovely bread, plentiful filling and generous serving of chips. I was visiting from Notts, so I can safely say that it was worth the trip. I hope to visit again.

We had a gorgeous Sunday roast here today. Absolutely delicious, pork belly was amazing and the veg, Yorkshire pud, cauli cheese and roast potatoes were all perfect! Highly recommend. All the staff were very friendly and attentive.
The one issue we had was we couldn?t get through on the phone and no way to book online, so we did just turn up and thankfully we got a table but other than that, brilliant! ?

Lovely meal at the Lion for bank holiday Monday. Great portion sizes and thanks so much to the chef for catering to the two vegans in our group - they were very happy with their burgers ? would recommend the huge fish finger sandwich! Will be back ?
