Beware: Staff on reception are highly snobby, rude and condescending. They had a racist smirk on their faces whilst talking to us. We did not feel welcome there and shall not be returning any time soon.Upon exit, my friend did not know what to do with the towel they provided, so we kindly wanted to return it to reception. When doing so, the lady very rudely said there?s a basket in the changing room and was expecting us to walk all the way back just to dispose of the towel. I honestly wished we should?ve just left the towels anyhow as that may have been better thsn going through the utter embarrassment of trying to do the honourable act by being nice and returning it.Avoid these snobs as they ruined our experience. Not worth the ££ to be insulted buy these people.

Just had the Wearside Karate Winter Course. Well done to Sensei Gillespie and the team. This is always a highlight of the karate calendar but this year was the best yet. Already looking forward to next year!

From having doors opened for me to receiving a friendly hello, their customer service is top-notch. The provision of towels is always prompt, reflecting their attention to detail. The facilities cater perfectly to my needs, offering a great variety of exercise options, including well-maintained weight machines and an outstanding swimming pool that is consistently clean and invitingly warm.The female-only sauna adds a delightful touch, providing a perfect space to unwind. The club room is a true gem ? a haven for both relaxation and productivity. The comfortable seating areas, coupled with delicious food options, make it an ideal spot for work or leisure. I appreciate the thoughtfulness that goes into creating such a well-rounded and enjoyable environment. David Lloyd Clubs has truly exceeded my expectations, making it my go-to place for fitness, relaxation, and even work. Thank you for providing a space that goes above and beyond in every aspect!

A very comfortable and welcoming place! All the staff are extremely polite. I am not a member of the club due to the fact that I do not live in this area, but we regularly come there to undergo certification and receive a new karate dan. Today we returned from a two-day winter course of learning new skills and improving skills. A very important and useful event for growing athletes. Therefore, many thanks to the sports complex for the space provided and the fantastic sports atmosphere.

My son has just completed the two day winter Karate course at David Lloyd Sunderland. A fantastic course with students attending from far and wide. Although non members, we were made to very welcome from all staff we encountered. The facilities were great, with the sessions taking place on the large, indoor tennis courts, a fantastic varied use of the space. Thank you.

Been a member for many years but more recently spending more time here for my sons Karate, including this weekend for a course. Comfortable place to spend time outside of working out, staff always accommodating extremely friendly and helpful.

I have been a member of David Lloyd for the past 12 years. This weekend, myself and my son attended the Karate Winter Course. It was absolutely brilliant. Well organised, friendly and such fun.The instructors were knowledgeable and the staff very helpful. We learnt so much.Please put on more events like this. It was spectacular!

Excellent facilities and friendly staff. Only downside is the food. The price you pay is restaurant prices and the food never reflects this. I would say one in three meals ordered is cooked incorrectly. Including basic things like an omelette (with ingredients placed in the middle after it is cooked!) poached eggs like fried eggs. Might just be egg based meals but very poor. Staff never, ever apologise for the food if you complain. Photo 1 (both photos show orders of poached eggs) is the one from David Lloyd and other from a cafe we visit regularly. Also, if you order anything including a ?flat bread?, it?s a tortilla or wrap warmed up. It isn?t an actual flat bread.
