Having been to the Godalming branch the previous week for a minor repair to a pair of glasses, around 6th or 7th August, I booked to have an appointment for 11th August. I was contacted by Vision Express on 9th August to make sure I would attend my appointment on the 11th. I felt this contact was unnecessary.
On the 11th I attended my appointment and took three pairs of glasses that had previously purchased from Vision Express. My eye test was carried out by a professional optician and was done well with explanations being given. At the end of the appointment, there was an assumption that as my prescription had changed, I would purchase new glasses.This assumption was also displayed when I was passed back to the sales staff member . There was no recognition that maybe I wouldn't want to purchase 2 new pairs which would likely cost a substantial amount of money. Given that my prescription had not changed dramatically, I did not want to incur such an expensive charge. Given this, I made my excuses and left the shop with the reassurance that the health of my eyes is good.
The change I would like to see is that your staff do not work on the basis of an assumption that customers will always want to order replacement glasses and acknowledge that the customer has the choice to not replace their existing glasses even if their prescription had changed to some extent.
