Purchased a Denon Hi-Fi on line which became faulty within the 2 year guarantee period. Phoned J.L customer services who acknowledged it had been reported within the Guarantee and that I should return it to my nearest store ASAP. Made a 120 mile round trip to the Cheadle Store only to be told that I had been wrongly informed by Customer Services and there was nothing the store could do. Asked to speak to a Manager who was rude, basically called me a liar and said that "I should shoulder some responsibility " for the error. Offered me no solution at all. I then went to the instore C.S Dept who called the online customer services who confirmed they had spoken to me and everything was in order and the store should sent Hi-Fi off for repair. Stores response was basically "Computer says no" they would not accept it and that I needed to contact Denon directly to get it repaired/fixed. The Manager refused to give me his full name and when we saw him later on in the store seemed to find the whole thing very funny, laughing with his colleagues, probably at our expense. Three and a half hours spend in store trying to sort this out on New Years Eve, to be treated in such a rude way when following their own customer services instructions.5 star Store - 1 Star Manager and Customer Services, I have been a regular and loyal J.L customer over the years, but I will never return to this store.Update - As advised I called the number as advised by Alan and there was no solution offered and I was advised to revisit the Cheadle Store. Also in the response from the store there was no reference to my disrespectful treatment by The acting store Manager - Gavin. Would seem they don't really care about their Customers and show no real effort to resolve my issues or address the disgraceful behavior of a supposed senior member of staff. No wonder he didn't want to give his full name. Absolutely awful Management and Customer Services at this store.

Massive thank you to Christina, who was working in homeware/cookware yesterday. Her service was what John Lewis was known for in the past - she couldn't have done more for me. Upon searching for a set of pans which were thought to be out of stock, she looked for me in the store to inform me that she'd found them. I was elated - her service was excellent, and her knowledge on the product was second-to-none.

Great store. Ample parking, very organised and polite attentive staff. Handy that it?s connected to a Sainsbury?s and just off the a34 as well to pop into on the way back from work.

I ordered a bluetooth sound dock to be delivered, which Royal Mail lost, as you?d expect. JL phoned me a few times were incredibly helpful and offered to replace it, but I managed to track it down to a dishonest neighbour at an address down the road after a few days, by using RM delivery co-ordinates?fantastic customer service from JL though.

UPDATE!!After my review below I went back today 22nd Dec, it was like a different store. Lots of staff and a lovely lady Lorraine who assisted me with my Nespresso machine I bought. I asked a Sage rep however he said he could not assist. Lorraine must have heard him and came to my rescue. Helped me right through the end of the sale. Another lady assisted with registering it and was also very helpful. It?s like someone has given them all feedback and have listened, well some of the staff anyway. A better experience this time round. Thank you. Changed it from 1 star to 5 after today?s experience.Arrived in John Lewis to buy a coffee machine. No one to help but 4 staff chatting to each other at the De Longhi coffee area. I was walking in the Nespresso area and no one approached me. I asked another member of staff for help and highlighted a congregation of staff chatting to each other. I said maybe as I am looking for Nespresso machine they cannot help me as they are De Longhi. It turned out they all were not just 2 off them! She managed to get me help and tear one of them away from their chat!Also how do you expect people to buy expensive coffee machines and not have them switched on so they can be tried.

Came to the clarins counter with quite a vague description of a product (gift for someone else of course) and Anu and Ashley promptly helped me find it, anu was very attentive in asking if I needed help with anything despite looking busy herself which I appreciated considering the overwhelming Christmas period.

Recently visited the store on looking for a pram, we had the pleasure of being greeted by the lovely Sarah, she really helped us out, booked us in for an appointment and explained everything in detail, very lovely and friendly and we purchased the pram straight after this appointment, highly recommend going in and getting some advice from the lovely team, thank you Sarah

Dog friendly! Easy free parking close to entrance and staff so incredibly helpful and happy! We went to view furniture and there was lots to look at and try out, staff very knowledgeable.

Ordered a laptop online and collected from the store. Good price and nice to be able to speak to knowledgeable sales people. Reassuring to be able to return it too, although all working fine so far. Very nice store to wander around for inspiration - antidote to online shopping!

Incredible service from George on the ladies department in the cheadle store who on hearing me ask another member of staff about evening dresses for a black tie wedding went to the trouble of finding me a selection of evening dresses in the store room after there were none suitable on the various consessions. He is a credit to the store, polite friendly and Professional.Also to the ladies in the changing room who helped me into the dresses and again where incredibly kind professional and very help. Thank you to all.Ruby.
