Had the snails to start, out of the 6 shells there was only 2 full, I did tell the girls but they just laughed. If it wasn't for that it would have been 4 stars for the food and service. The steak was nice but dessert was a very small slice.

Bord de L?eau is open!!! Happened to catch this hidden gem on their reopening night. Food was to die for! Lamb was cooked to perfection. Service was amazing throughout. Staff were all very friendly and attentive. It is apparent the chef cooks with passion and I?m glad to see he is on top form after a brief period away. So glad to have experienced this authentic French restaurant. Was a pleasure to dine there.

Really lovely place, hidden gem that we came upon! , gorgeous from the outside and in. The conservatory seating area is gorgeous and gives a real feel of being in France. The menu is lovely - I had frogs legs and then the sea bass, followed by the cheese platter. Very authentic and delicious, couldn?t recommend enough. The owners are so lovely and welcoming and even gave us tips on local sights. Will definitely be returning here and recommending to everyone. The chef out did himself!

Only need to say this. This the best restaurant that I have been to in my life. To dine in is a pleasure. I last dined there in 2017 so was relieved that it was still so good. The chef makes it so good. When you book, ask to dine in the conservatory. The staff are magnificent.

Excellent food. We shared starters then my wife had hake and I had monkfish. Both cooked to perfection. Just the right quantities of accompaniments too. The restaurant was busy, but we agree with a previous reviewer who suggested that some non-invasive background music would improve the ambience. The chef came out to have a brief word with each table - a nice touch.

Fantastic French food. Service was exemplary and staff exceptionally welcoming and courteous. Chef visited tables to check food was to diners satisfaction which is a lovely touch and good to be able to give him such positive feedback. Crab salad followed by lamb was absolutely scrumptious.Prawns followed by duck was superb. Portions are very generous. Desserts are to die for. Cannot recommend more highly. We even got tips about places to visit. An amazing night out.Thank you

Excellent cuisine. Don't normally go for 3 courses but this was too good to resist. Unhurried, nice atmosphere so reminiscent of France. Lovely!

Fantastic food, good wine and phenomenal service. The proprietors are most welcoming and treat you the same whether it is lunch or dinner.

Very slick, friendly & speedy service although I was a little disappointed with the quality of food. The fish soup was reasonable just a little lacking and somewhat watery. The main (lamb) was a little minimalistic - looking back at the review images months back indicates a change in portions and overall quality.

First time visit for us on a quiet Wednesday evening, the service was fast and attentive, even the chef himself came out to ask if everything was OK! The food was lovely, my partner especially loved the pigeon on the specials board. No complaints at all, although I think some background music would give a little bit extra ambience.

What a find. Came upon this place quite by accident. Overlooking the harbour we sat in the conservatory. Fabulous French inspired menu, everything was absolutely delicious. The freshest fish and the best Creme Brulee I've ever had.

Was pleasantly surprised to find a French restaurant in Wick, we just had to try the place.Ordered classic French - Snails, confit duck and creme brulee. Delicious!Washed down with a litre of the house wine, brandy coffee liqueur, a brandy and a white coffee.Very nice evening indeed.Nice touch was the Chef coming round to the diners after eating.Pity it is 450 miles away or we would certainly become regulars.

I got food poisoned by the frog legs at bord de leau.My husband and I have just been at the Bord de l'eau in wick on Sunday 4th September 2022. The young waitress showed us to our table. We ordered starters of frog legs and my husband had tagliatelle. We had a bottle of white wine to go along with the food. The 3 frog legs were swimming in a dish full of butter with a vague hint of garlic and some flakes of an indescribable herb, possibly dill. They were the most bland, disgusting things. I did eat them as frog legs are a novelty and I was hungry but at £8.95, they are overpriced for a dish with zero flavour. My husband had tagliatelle which was similarly bland and flavourless. He did not finish his starter. The young waitress who served us seemed annoyed that I asked her to find out if the oysters were fresh. My husband and I noticed that she went round all the other tables asking if their meal was nice, but she did not ask us. It was very obvious.I wanted to leave an honest review, so I politely asked her name, she just walked off without telling me, as did the older lady, also one of the waiting staff. My husband went over to the older lady and was going to pay for the 2 bland starters and the wine we had but she just said she had to go to the kitchen, and so we left.I am happy to pay for what we had in the restaurant, even though the food and the service were dreadful. This is advertised as a French restaurant, but it was just bland and tasteless. The young waitress assured me the French chef was working in the kitchen, but my husband saw into the kitchen and saw Scottish people only.It is very disappointing where staff are not honest, any why would a waitress not give her name? I am in the business of hospitality myself and have to wear a name tag in case people choose to review my service.Bottom line, I think the restaurant staff and food especially were not as advertised. It was a dreadful experience for us. I would ever return or recommend this restaurant mostly for the attitude of the staff but the food was completely tasteless as well. This very pricey restaurant did not fulfill its contract to us as customers.Later on in the evening, I was struck with severe diarrhea and vomiting. I am fairly certain that this was caused by the frog legs at the restaurant. Perhaps they were cooked from frozen or reheated badly. Anyway, I was very ill and the effects have only just started to wear off 24 hours after the restaurant experience. I have contacted the local council to check out the food preparation in light of my dreadful experience.
