“The property is stunning, and the historical hotel building is beautiful. We had a room with a view and could not get enough of the mesmerizing lake and mountain scenery. All the staff were also very nice and friendly. However, the hotel property itself could use some love and care. Our room windows were dirty and full of spiderwebs; carpets need a deep clean, especially to remove stains and accumulated dust; the extra bed we got was just an air mattress that kept deflating; the piano in the common area is out of tune; many of the board games in the common area were either broken or had missing pieces; quite a number of doors and wall rims are calling for paint, etc. Also, the place has very poor internet connection, so if you plan to work there and need internet it would not be possible. Overall, we had a peaceful and pleasant stay – if the management spruces up the place a bit it will be spectacular.”

“We stayed in one of the Loch side apartments as we had two dogs. All staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Space in apartment was good and well laid out. We never bothered cooking (we were on holiday) and ate at the hotel in mornings and evenings. Food was delightful and whilst the service was good, you did sometimes have to wait a bit and remind the waiters you were still there, but overall it was a lovely place in an idyllic setting. We have no hesitation in returning back to this place for another dog holiday.”

“My wife booked this hotel last minute on the day we arrived. Hemma the receptionist who took our booking was very helpful. On arrival the exterior was disappointing, with storage containers to the front. The stairwell and its ceiling are in need of extensive renovation. However, the room was clean and comfortable with every necessary convenience and views of the woods. The grounds were beautiful leading down to a spectacular river beneath the high hills. Dinner was excellent and very reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very enjoyable with a wide range of options. We recommend the hotel for visitors to Oban.”
