The food was quite good at what is essentially a csfeteria. I ordered a ham sandwich and got pasta salad and green salad on the side. I was confused about where to order and the cashier took care of me. For the crush of people in line it was quiet deeper in the cafe.

It's a great place to have a bite. We went at about 12 h, and when we were leaving, the queue was much longer than we when we arrived. The staff is attentive and kind. We had 2 quiches and we're delicious; if you want to have them, have in mind that they included a small portion of salad and a small portion of pasta as well. It was a complete meal!

We were visiting Stirling Castle on July 10 and at 3:30pm we stopped into the beautifully appointed Unicorn Cafe to have an afternoon snack, cold drink and coffee. The kitchen was closed but there was a nice bakery selection of cakes and muffins available. Our family of 4 selected four deserts, 4 cold drinks and 2 coffees. When we went to find a spot to sit we saw that half of the seating area was full and the rest of the tables had chairs flipped over on top of tables suggesting that seating areas were now closed?..at 3:30pm. A staff member confirmed this and brought us to a closer section that had half of its tables with chairs on them and moved 2 tables together for us that were still available. As we sat and ate our cakes, drank our beverages, a staff member kept coming to check if the table next to us was finished and looked at us as well. Once the table next to us cleared she quickly came back and washed the table and chairs and put the chairs noisily on top of the table and left the cleaner behind us on a closed table for what I assume was for our table. It felt very disconcerting and rude. Just before 4 we left to finish our visit to Stirling Castle when we noticed some cafe staff leaving the castle. It was very frustrating that the reason why the staff had put the chairs on the tables and kept checking on us was they wanted to go home at end of shift instead of putting chairs up on the tables once cafe is closed. All in all a very unwelcoming experience with lack of customer service.

Good food, the sandwiches are nice and can be toasted, but the green salad not interesting. The coffee and scone were good!
The staff, which is probably very stressed due to the amount of visitors, was very nice and took time to repeat the good options, with a smile! I?m very impressed, because I would?ve been quite stressed if I was them.
A bit expensive though.

Nothing special and the drinks were not great. Staff was just not very friendly and it was hard to figure out how to queue and the staff had to tell us to shift over. The tea water was way too hot in a very pour quality cup that leaked out the side. I held it for about 15 minutes in the cold before it was remotely drinkable. My sister got an espresso that she said was burnt. Not great...

Three staff members stood behind the counter, not one offered to serve me. Finally got to order some vegan lentil and carrot soup (two different vegan soups were available). Got a nice chunk of bread with it but was also given butter. Asked if they had any vegan margarine and no, only butter. Why have all these vegan options to then only have butter?!
Also had to ask for a tray as none were out despite lunch only just having started and the cafe quiet.
Overall, staff seem totally disinterested in being there and no vegan margarine. Silver lining was that the soup was excellent.

Good food and reasonable prices despite having a captive audience at Stirling Castle. We had quick service despite a line up and were able to eat outside at a nearby picnic area on the castle grounds. No need to go further for lunch while visiting the castle!

Had a wonderfull lunch at the Unicorn Cafe, very accomodating to our gluten free needs and very helpful staff. Soup was lovely and healthy. We myself, husband and daughter all loved the food and it was a lovely spot to sit out of the wind and cold outside.

We paid twenty pounds for two sandwiches and a bottle of water and it was pretty bleak. Mine was an avocado club on chiabatta and the bread was so dry it was certainly several days old. For a nine pound sandwich it was extremely disappointing, with little to no filling in it. I ate half of it because I was pretty hungry but couldnt bring myself to finish it. I regret not going back to the counter and asking for a refund after the first sad bite. The staff seemed really nice and their cakes were good as I got one to fill the disappointment of the sandwich. Sandwiches definitly not worth the money. My boyfriend got the chicken flatbread but said it wasn't worth the money either.
Vegetarian options: They were okay.
Parking: The car park was full but there was on street parking after a while of searching for a spot

Very practical because you can take away or eat on site, this is the Benugo chain. Smaller than others on the other hand and therefore less choice.
There is a variety of sandwiches (prices and recipes) or more elaborate dishes but which seem expensive to me for what they are (for example, the slice of quiche with a small salad for +£10). The desserts/coffee are varied and at classic prices.
On the other hand, I agree with the other opinions, the service is disorganized (only 1 person who collects, we don't know who to contact for the order because 3 people are doing the same thing and with the noise we don't always understand them well ) which means that the wait is quite long (15 min for 2 take-away sandwiches)...
Please note, this snack restaurant is located in the castle (free access to the forecourt by asking the castle guards). When we went there, the address was wrong and it made us lose 15-20 minutes that we didn't have, because it was located at the bottom of the castle on maps and there were 2 addresses (Benugo and Unicorn cafe, which are the same place in reality)....

Lovely stop when exploring the castle, however is lacking the hospitality feel a visitor attraction should have.
I had lunch here whilst showing some English friends around Scotland. The food and the service were great. I'd highly recommend their sandwiches, however the whole process of getting your food and seat feels a bit "service stationy". There seemed to be a lot of staff for no real position, that could have been utilised for table service or even just busting the used tables.
I can not say anything wrong about the venue as its beautiful inside with four atriums off of a main corridor. The sandwiches and cake I had was fantastic, and I'd definitely go back for more.
Parking: There is a massive car park attributed to the castle, however this fills up quickly so get their early. I parked just a couple of streets down however for free as the main lot was full.
Wheelchair accessibility: The cafe has wheelchair access from the carpark, though being in a Castle alot of the surface is uneven stone so may be bumpy.

Nestled within the historic Stirling Castle, the Unicorn Cafe offers a convenient dining option for visitors. The ambiance is charming with the castle's rich heritage. The veggie quiche was very good. The quiche is a must-try for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Its savory filling and flaky crust was yummy!
