Marmalade“The experience at the Marmalade was just lovely. A great experience in terms of the hospitality shown by the staff, the quality of the rooms, the fit and finish of the freshly renovated hotel, and the walkability to food and pub options in Portree. Every request we had was met quickly by both the front desk and hotel staff. Would absolutely stay here again and I recommend it to anyone making a visit to Skye.Rooms: I cannot stress how comfortable the bed was. I woke up refreshed each and every morning. Also of note for my fellow American travelers: they have A/C. I can't imagine it's necessary more than 10 days out of the year, but as it was 28 C when we were on Skye we appreciated it.Nearby activities: Portree is your jumping off point for everything on Skye, but unless you're comfortable hiking or biking along roads shared with cars driven by tourists like me, you will need a car to get to where you're going.Walkability: The Marmalade hotel is a maximum 5 minute walk from Portree, which has a much wider range of food and pub options than expected given we were on Skye.Food & drinks: The restaurant is priced on the higher end but with the recent renovation of the hotel I can't imagine a nicer place to spend an evening. This is especially true if you're visiting in the summer and can sit out on the back patio and lawn. We had appetizers and drinks, a mix of wine, cocktails, and scotch across the group, and the staff were able to make specific recommendations that kept everyone happy.”
“As frequent travelers to the Scottish Highland, we absolutely loved discovering the island of Raasay for the first time. The hotel is a very beautiful house, and our room, the balcony suite facing towards Sky, was amazing (what a view...!). We did enjoy spending some time in the hotel, and also visiting the distillery (which is an absolute must, as well), and talking a walk up to Temptation Hill, and also a drive to reach Calum road (?). Yes, it is needed to catch a ferry to reach the island, which wasn't a problem at all. All in all, we had an incredible experience. Thank you so much!”
“The food was amazing !! We had the soho and the aubergine and fish and chips and we loved it ! The staff was super m ie and et really enjoyed ourselves I was there with my friend and we’re definitely coming back soon”
“This is such a delightful hotel in a great location in Portree. Chris at the front desk was so helpful when we arrived tired and the rest of the staff was very nice. The breakfast and dinner are good.”
“Wondeful place to stay. Super clean, cozy, very nice staff. Just beware if you have mobility problems because there is no lift! Otherwise, the place is perfect and breakfast absolutely delicious and inclusive, with options for all”
“Most of this rating is based on the great view from room #16. The harbor and surroundings are thoroughly enjoyed from this vantage point as well as the bagpipes playing beneath the window on Tuesday evening.”
“It was a great stay when I visited. the hotel is cozy and very inviting. It has a very at home feel. Staff were super helpful and patient. And were also very informative on what to see and do in the area.”
