I was due to stay with my mother early May. We arrived after a day exploring and was greeted and checked in at the hotel. We had booked a 2 bedroom cottage (b n b £900) hence were expecting a high standard and quality. How wrong could we be, the two bed cottage was dirty, scruffy, not secure and electric cables handing through a emergency exit which clearly hadn?t been checked for a few weeks due to the amount of leaves in the door way.
There were ring marks on most sides, no pillow protectors, the windows didn?t lock, you couldn?t open the top part of the sash hence didn?t feel safe sleeping down stairs. The carpet was dirty and had not been hoovered.
To add insult they even showed me and my mother a spa suit and suggested I could sleep on the sofa ?. NO
On entering the main house myself and my other they were trying to move us to a different so people couldn?t hear our complaints. The manager came swiftly and dealt with my request for a full refund promptly ?. The receptionist was not appropriately dressed for a ?5 star?
A long way from a 5 star and I must say it is a self proclaimed 5 star as nothing me and mother saw was 5 star.

Such a cool spot to stay!! A castle on its own island. Rooms are luxurious and I definitely recommend the Balmoral Benedict for breakfast!

An excellent experience. The staff were professional and friendly, the food was delicious, and the ambiance was exquisite! Also, the water pressure in the shower was on point and their wine and whiskey lists were respectable. There is a spa, hikes, and several recreational activities on site. There is a gym, but it is not open early or late and has limited equipment (no free weights, limited cardio machines)A few minor areas of complaint. The bed was a European King, that is 2 double beds pushed together... Some of the information on that online was unclear (mostly from third party sites). Also the bed was not as comfortable as I'd expect for a luxury hotel.Additionally, be aware that the island is fairly isolated... There is taxi service to Oban, but it is best to reserve 24 hours in advance. We loved the intimacy of an isolated estate, but it does make a night on the town a bit more involved.Overall a great location for luxe accomodations!

We checked in for two nights. Lovely hotel and beautiful grounds. The room was large, clean and well appointed. One of the restaurants was closed and it felt that the other one was struggling to meet demand. Limited menu, pricey but enjoyed my selections. A little odd to have reservations for breakfast ? I don?t know if it?s between seasons, but felt the staff were slightly disorganized.

Isle of Eriska Hotel is beyond amazing! We felt like we were in one of the most beautiful spots in the world. The dining experience at the restaurant was perfect. The staff took excellent care of us and we enjoyed walking around the beautiful island and hearing the gentle waves. A truly lovely place.

We only spent one night at the property and that is a travesty. The bed was among the most comfortable I'd ever slept on and I contemplated stuffing the massive fluffy duvet into my suitcase. The public areas were cozy on a cool night, a fire in the fireplace and good drinks at the bar. There was a basket of blankets in the solarium off the bar if you wanted to take your drinks out to the patio (which was dark - could do with some lighting to encourage evening use and ambiance). We opted for a light breakfast, just an entrée and accompanying toast, though there were other options if you need more to fill up, i.e. fruit salad, yogurt, pastries. The bruléed porridge with whisky was delicious, the staff was attentive, and the tea was hot. A+ I really wish we'd had more time to explore the property and take advantage of the on-site offerings. After breakfast we wandered the gardens and hiked up the hill, inevitably getting lost. Though we didn't make it to our pre-determined destination, it was a good (if damp) morning tramp with lots of ripe brambles for the picking (a shame the resort doesn't make more use of these - it would be terrific to tie the local produce into proprietary desserts/cocktails/jams/scones/etc). Given another day we would have looked into the spa, gym, longer hikes, the putting green, maybe even a game of croquet. We didn't even bother looking at the activities with longer time commitments like falconry and bee keeping. If you're looking to go somewhere for a few days and stay busy without leaving, this would be the spot! The only downsides I can think of are the lack of electrical outlets in the room (to be expected for an older property; we made do without much fuss) and the lack of signage. Getting to the island was its own odyssey with only one sign to tell you that you're even within proximity, then nothing as you get closer. We pulled over, debated the map, turned round, turned around again, more than once. On the property, there was one map by the car park showing you the property and trails (we found another laying on the ground on top of the hill). It would be nice if there were some paper or laminated maps you could take with you, along with some more signs at trail junctions. If you're looking for a private, quiet, outdoorsy getaway, don't miss this gem!

If you're looking to escape, to walk with no one around, to be wowed by the spectacular scenery of the West Coast then this is your place. Isle of Eriska is magical. The main house is kind of grand, old fashioned with super comfortable sofas, fire places and spacious country house style bedrooms - four poster bed in ours - plus welcoming and attentive staff. Delicious locally sourced food and well stocked proper bar. We loved the loved the croquet lawn and that GnT's were delivered to us pre-play! Our perfectly behaved dog was welcomed too which is always such a bonus. If you're looking for five star luxury then you wont be impressed by the golf range, putting green or spa facilities or some of the outside accommodation, all are tired but will be refurbed in the next couple of years, so we were told. But that's not why we were here.Loved our stay - amazing surroundings, old world charm and wonderful staff. This place is a real treat.Thank you Isle of Eriska. We will be back ,

Great service, pretty gardens and lovely reception areas. If solitude is your thing then this is perfect, however it's a bit far from town for my liking.Free coffee for tour guides?

Reviewer is US-based, middle-aged, male, with ample international travel experience. Traveling with spouse and spouse?s 79-year-old mother. Staff: SUPER friendly and accommodating. Meals: both breakfast and dinner were excellent. Rooms: spacious, unique, lovely. Technology: usb phone chargers built in+++ , made charging easy for a US-based traveler (no adapter needed) Setting/ grounds: pastoral, scenic, lovely, remote, quiet. Price: expensive but worth it. Note: all rooms are upstairs- no lift. 79-year old did fine but she?s in good shape. Also- no AC. We had some warm days (rare for Scotland in September). A truly lovely property, and a staff that really seems to care about their guests. Super chill, and very flexible. We felt pampered. The only negative thing I have to say is that the property was a little bit hard to get to, and a bit removed from civilization. This is, of course, the REASON one might stay at this property. I only mention it because certain services, such as laundry, are not easily accessed. However, the staff did a nice job of accommodating all of our requests. The nearest town is Oban- 15 to 20 minutes by car on very narrow country roads. We had a professional driver in most cases, so it was no concern, but if you are driving yourself, and you are not familiar with UK roads, be prepared to encounter many oncoming vehicles in tight spots. Long story short ? once you are at the property, there is not a community to wander around in, as one might find with a more urban location. But this could be a plus if you were looking to relax and get away from it all. We would stay in this property again, and recommend it to those who are looking for a quiet, relaxing, lovely property.

The Victorian suite on ground floor was stunning bed comfortable and pillows soft .The bathroom needed a shelf for cosmetics etc as balancing them on side of bath was not ideal. A lovely location and attractive grounds.

We had a spa suite, and it was spacious, well kept and relaxing. the food was excellent, and we had some lovely walks around the island. we had dinner in the restaurant three nights in a row. Each was great, but we were very full when we left! The staff were first rate. I'd love to go back and stay in one of the rooftop retreats next time. We didn't use the spa, but would like to in future.

Beautiful hotel in a serene setting. Staff was very nice, accommodating, and helpful. The restaurant had delicious breakfast and dinner menus. The grounds were lovely and surrounded by water. I went for a walk every morning and it was sublime. And the bar was lovely and the drinks were very good. Grab one outdoor if you can.
