“It is a bit since we were here last but the charm and welcome have been maintained. Seating is a mixture of comfy chairs and table seating and the food is delicious cakes to cafe lunch. Surrounded by books it would be churlish not to buy but there is no pressure. Very dog friendly.”

“We were quickly welcomed and shown to our reserved table. Our drnks order was also taken and delivered. We decided to order main course and dessert. I had a lovely Beef Wellington (medium rare) and my wife really enjoyed her Barbary Duck which was cooked to her choice of medium. We were very satisfied with the quality and quantity of food. The restaurant was busy and the only negative of our meal was that the staff did not seem to notice that we had finished the mains. I had to call a waitress over to ask for dessert menus. We had a Gingerbread Cheesecake and a Chocolate Almond Dartois. The ice cream was delicious. A nice touch was that as my wife has mobility issues, she was shown to a downstairs staff toilet. The total cost for the meal and drinks was £74.30, not cheap but worth it.”
