Reviews and recommendations brought us to the Geographer, and we’re really glad they did. Maybe it was the long journey on the WHW, but we came in ready for a substantial meal. My husband and I both ordered burgers, and we agreed, those were the best hamburgers we’ve ever had. Tasty, juicy, seasoned and cooked just right.
The service was efficient, and the young woman who took care of us was funny, friendly and made us feel welcome. We also had the pleasure of a few words with the manager(?)/ owner(?)/ man in the shirt that said “The Boss”. Again, funny, friendly and welcoming. The whole experience was so satisfying.
Note: If you go, there is no indoor waiting area. If you have to wait for a table, you do so on the sidewalk. Hint: It’s Scotland. It rains. Dress accordingly, and come with that understanding. Our experience was that this place turns tables very quickly. We arrived to a line of 10+ people ahead of us. We were seated within 15 minutes.

A real gem of a restaurant. Fantastic fresh food with generous portions at a reasonable price (four people, starters, mains and alcohol was under £150). Staff so welcoming and friendly. Lovely buzzy atmosphere. Well worth the short time queuing to get in!

A VALID ALTERNATIVE TO THE USUAL TOURIST RESTAURANTS
This is the second time we have had lunch at The Geographer, and we were already impressed the first time; both for the original atmosphere and the food, and not least for the fact that it is not the usual ?tourist? restaurant.
We had Tomato and Coconut Soup, then Crispy Chicken Strips, and everything was as good as we remembered.
However, we were a little disappointed not to find the same look... which was truly original! On the contrary, although it remains a pleasant place to eat, we didn't appreciate the profusion of fake flowers and nets...
Not that they were ugly in themselves... but we have to admit that if we hadn't already known the place, we wouldn't have gone in! In fact, from the outside, it's a bit confusing... it almost looks like a restaurant run by Chinese people (with all due respect to the Chinese) :-?

Don't let the simple menu put you off, this is simple hearty food executed near perfectly.
The haggis and the stew were precisely what was needed after a long day, and the sea bass was also excellent. Don't get me started on the banana sponge.
Really friendly genuine service. Can't fault it.
Gets very busy, and doesn't take bookings so arrive early or expect a short wait. It's definitely worth doing so.

We popped in here for lunch recently, it wasn't busy when we went in but it soon filled up quickly.
The service was OK, fairly quick and pleasant attentive staff, the food was very nice but nothing amazing.
The portions were quite large but the quality wasn't great tbh. By that I mean, the fries were like the cheap frozen chips from Aldis and the batter on the chicken strips was soggy, not crispy.
It certainly wasn't worth the price that was charged but it filled a hole!
The desserts were very overpriced aswell, the ice cream sundae was nearly £9 for vanilla ice cream with a few toppings.
It was OK but definitely nothing amazing, I've had cheaper meals at awarding restaurants.
Not sure we would rush back?!

Amazing seabass fish, sweet potato and pesto sauce! Our favourite meal in two weeks of travelling. Would add a photo but it went down too quickly.

The wait staff was friendly. The atmosphere was a bit stuffy and rushed. The food was decent. I ordered a medium-rare steak, but it arrived almost well-done. I was a bit disappointed.

The wait to get in was worth it. The burgers were delicious! Fish & chips also very good.
The staff were also very friendly & quick with everything. Would come back again.

There were four of us there and we were told we'd get a table straight away, but the table was then given to someone else who arrived after us behause one person couldn't get in for another five minutes. Meanwhile, we had to wait 40 minutes outside the restaurant to finally get a table. The food was good, but not particularly tasty. And a bit expensive. Definitely not worth the wait. I would recommend this restaurant as long as there aren't people waiting outside for tables, otherwise the wait can be a bit too long.

The food is delicious and the service is excellent. We went for the haggis and soup to start and then the mac n cheese for mains. Both courses were fantastic and the food is reasonably priced, too. Yes, you might have to wait outside for 40 minutes or so to be served, but it is definitely worth it. We parked on a street just behind the Travelodge car park. Not loads of spaces, but there does seem to be more availability for parking in the local area after 6pm.

Food was super delicious. Friendly people. We ate here two days during our stay in Fort William, which was perfect.
When you have to wait in the line, it won't take that long and it is worth the waiting.
