Smaller restaurant that can't seat large groups which is fine with me, keeps it quieter and service much more consistent. From downtown, tram is the easiest way to get here.”

“Amazing food. Amazing service. We were grateful they were able to fit us in for a late seating (I think we were just very lucky with timing, and reservations are required). Very imaginative menu highlighting some of the best quality ingredients you can find in Scotland. Lobster thermidor creme brulee and oyster snack were not only unique, but absolutely delicious. Scallop special with pickled strawberries was perfectly cooked and balanced.

Chicken breast was also cooked perfectly, and the Highland ribeye was also delicious (cooked a bit past medium, but still tender, so I can't really complain at all).

Sticky toffee pudding was excellent, especially with a glass of Pedro Ximinez sherry.

Wine list is also excellent with high quality selections at various price points.

Real standout was the Michelin level service through the entire meal.

What a great find! This pub has real charm — a warm and cozy interior with authentic details that immediately set the mood. You can genuinely feel that you’re in the oldest gastro pub in the city, and in the best possible way — full of character and history.

The staff were fantastic: super friendly, helpful, and everything was served quickly with a smile. You feel welcome right away.

And the food… absolutely delicious! The shepherd’s pie was full of flavour and perfectly hearty. The haggis balls starter was a surprising highlight — definitely worth trying. And don’t miss the sticky toffee pudding for dessert — simply amazing.

It’s a popular spot, so it’s definitely a good idea to book a table in advance.

“This was the best breakfast so far in our week and a half in the UK. Though the place is rather small, we got in straight away even with luggage. We ordered their own made granola with Greek yoghurt and berry compote, which was so good, and the banana bread (2 pieces) with Yoghurt and honey and pistachios, and that was just amazing. The coffee was good and a huge pot of tea. The staff was so helpful especially when I, very apologetically mentioned I was having an issue getting through to the car hire firm and he let me use their phone. And the music was all from my Spotify 70's playlist! This place was in the perfect spot between our Airbnb and Haymarket Station. Wish we had time to try the other things on the menu as they all sounded lovely.”
