“I was recommended to Rifkind and Brophy by one of their customers to look at a minor eye problem which was not clearing up. I was able to get an appointment the same day-that was lucky -and it was dealt with under the NHS scheme. Optometrist explained everything very clearly and was able to treat the problem there and then.Very good experience.”

“Quick test, explained everything, staff gave me space to look at glasses and explained a lot about different styles and add ons , and the different lens options I opted for a sunglasses and and normal glasses, there were a lot of plastic frames ones I wanted one with metal rim only a few, to choose from but still managed to get something , fairly quiet on the Sunday I went, but friendly staff unlike the one in st James court at least there was a reception area for someone to approach and register you, online booking was easy, however I had letters in but wasn’t allowed to book one until my due date was over, or else I be charged,”

“A good selection of frames. I chose Lindbergs. Excellent explanation of the Varifocal lens options. I was told 2 weeks, and lo and behold, 2 weeks it was. The lenses are better than some more expensive ones I have. I'm utterly delighted.”

Rose provided excellent customer service- she’s very personable and empathetic, kept me updated throughout the eye tests as she went which I really appreciated and an overall lovely approach with customers. “I recently presented at Cunning's Bruntsfield branch with a pair of spectacles which had been badly damaged when I had a fall, while on vacation. The chain store which had supplied me with them told me there was little they could do & advised me to buy another pair at considerable cost! Andrew & his colleague at Cunning's were happy to examine them. Andrew slowly & patiently repaired them & was reluctant to accept payment.A big thank you to Andrew & Cunnings which will now be my Optician of choice!”

“I had been worried about my vision in one eye for some years but McGraths was the first optician that took it seriously and the optometrist spent a long time examining it and found I had a cataract and put in the list to have it removed. They’re all lovely there.”

“Very professional service. Best prescription I have had in more than 60 years of wearing spectacles. Also, the most expensive, but you get what you pay for. Honestly, makes you feel younger. I recommend it, but it isn't necessary for everyone. Is it value? - yes, if you need it. I am 75 and working on computer and instrument screens a lot, and for me, it has made a very worthwhile difference. Noticeable difference in driving as well. Pays off in safety and efficiency.”

“I visited Chetty & Das with an inflamed, very sore eyelid and they couldn’t have been more helpful. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, they assessed the issue, recommended treatment, booked a follow-up phone call to check-in and a follow-up appointment in case it was needed. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them if you’re on the hunt for an optician. 5 stars.”

“I'm so happy! Today I picked up my glasses ??? They're so beautiful and I'm so happy because they really help me, I had bad experience in another optical lenses was so bad and I couldn't see normal and I did 2 or 3 eye tests and it was wrong, but in this optical mister ophthalmologist did me 2 test one simple and next with special test and he is really professional of this! My boyfriend also did glasses in this optical and the same happy, I'll recommend this optical everyone !”

“The staff are very helpful and polite, and there was a decent selection of frames. The one downside is that you often need to sit and wait (on chairs that are just in the middle of the store) as you go between the different staff members.”

Hearing aids have changed my life, should have done it years ago. went for the S P top of the range own make ,got everything on them , they are brilliant .”

“Visiting your optometrist is not only important for an eye prescription the latest trends in glassware but more importantly for your overall health. My very talented optometrist Alexandra Young noticed bruising of my top eye lid and suggested I should get my thyroid tested as it could be causing a clotting issue. Like most people I heard her loud and clear but I had no symptoms so why would I want to waste my time trying to get a GP appointment. Until I became very ill at the weekend and had to attend A&E for severe abdominal pain. Today was diagnosed with an under active thyroid if I had only listened to Alexandra at the time I could have started my treatment sooner and not became very unwell. Please get your routine annually eye checks done they may not only save your eye sight but your life. Thanks Alexandra from now on I will listen to you.”

“Our family has been going to Anita since we moved to Edinburgh in 2018. She was the only optometrist I found online who carried Miraflex glasses for kids that our son started wearing at 1yo in the States. 5 years later we still continue to visit Anita because she provides the absolute best service. She and her mum are also the sweetest. Our son recently graduated from Miraflex because he has outgrown the largest size of their flexible glasses. He was worried we wouldn't find another suitable pair, but Anita brightened his day because she found alternative glasses he was happy with.”

“No delay. Polite staff. Adequate explanations. One definite suggestion (I am a doctor). One of the first signs of Parkinison's is a reduced frequency of blinking. Perhaps you could screen for this by noting slow blinking when air jets are testing for raised intra-ocular presure”
