It's a little off the beaten path, but it is certainly worth the visit. It's not as old as other buildings but is constructed to look older than it is. The owner used timber from a couple of old sail ships for the entrance way, one of them being the Duke of Wellington. It's free to visit, but there are donation boxes posted... read full comment

Great old church, fascinating design/architecture. There's a Robert the Bruce chamber which claims to contain one of his bones. Free admission but suggested donation. Also there was a card reader so no excuse ?

This amazing church on the shore of Loch Awe built by Walter Douglas Campbell for his mum. There are all sorts of architectural styles here with a touch of Narnia in the mix. From St Conan’s Kirk

St Conan's Kirk is a working church and a leading Argyll Tourist Attraction. It was designed by one man who was his own architect and benefactor and includes a wide range of ecclesiastical styles to give an amazing unique and atmospheric building. The gardens also offer views across Loch Awe. It is open to visitors except during special events and church services. It is often referred to as a hidden gem but is just off the A85 Oban to Tyndrum Road in the village of Lochawe. The gatehouse tearoom is open most days from April to October. Entrance to the Kirk is by donation.
