I visited the Ardshiel as we would normally two or three times a year, and on this occasion we were vastly underwhelmed, the portion sizes have been reduced to a size where it would be more prudent to eat elsewhere. If it were not for the fantastic service, I doubt we would ever eat here again. Fantastic staff and food quality, but miserable portion sizes. Shame on you management. I have also noted that the management rarely responds to less than perfect reviews.

A colleaged was booked in to stay and invited me to dine with her. We both had the mac and cheese and the parmesan truffle fries. Thet were wonderful. My colleague told me the room was great and she was very comfortable and well looked after by the very friendly attentive staffFood & drinks: A five selection of spirits particularly local gins and whiskies. Food is delicious

We had an outstanding stay at the Ardshiel this past October. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated. We loved the traditional blue plaid covering the walls and luxurious oak millwork. We had a room on the top floor with a gorgeous view of the harbor, town and mountains. The room seemed recently updated. The bathroom was stylish and gleaming. The bed comfortable and had a desk and sittings area with table for eating. Although you?d be wise to take advantage of the Ardshiel?s delicious restaurant! We had what would be considered fine dining here in the states. Even better that we were situated the fireplace. We could not have asked fir a more romantic, delicious dinner for our last night in Scotland. The free breakfast is outstanding with many options to choose from. The staff was very accommodating. My husband loved the whisky bar? incredible selection! Perfect fir a night cap, or two. Excellent for meeting new friends. Overall the Ardshiel was an exceptional experience and exceptional value! Oh? you can walk to most everything from here, including Springbank Distillery. Very convenient.

Stayed at this hotel a number of times now. Every time is the same, greeted with a smile and friendly service. Staff are very welcoming and professional. Food is lovely, rooms are clean and comfortable. Can not fault this place.Only surprise is that it?s not a 4 star hotel.Rooms: Lovely clean comfy and well decorated rooms with newly renovated en-suite bedrooms in the rooms.Walkability: Located 3 minutes walk from town centre but just out the way enough.Food & drinks: Excellent choice of whiskey, with a menu if you are unsure what you would like. Several beers on draft along with fridges providing choices of beers a ciders.Food is excellent, with several different vegetarian options available and several specials every night, along with an excellent made to order breakfast in the morning.

Exceptional experience all round.Having visited The Ardshiel a few times now, I can honestly say they consistently excel.Warm, charming, and professional service in a well maintained, comfortable, and relaxed environment. The food is both excellent and very good value. The food is fresh, well presented, good sized portions, and always very tasty! It really is a treat to visit The Ardshiel. Can't recommend enough. And applaud the staff and owners, well done!Noteworthy details: A very very extensive whisky menu is available, that in itself makes it a destination worthwhile seeking out!

Rooms are okay, staff friendly and helpful, food was nice. Great selection of whisky 700+ Room was expensive, we asked on speck after having to leave the Dellwood due to it being dirty. But it seems all the local area was, due to location they can charge what they want. Did feel like we were being taken for a ride, Scotland is a very expensive place to visit now compared to our last visit.Food & drinks: Worth a visit just for the 700+ whiskey menu.

We were very comfortable during our stay at the Ardsheil. The room was clean and warm and a good nights sleep was had. The whisky selection is outstanding with something for every taste. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into it. My only criticism is the choice at breakfast. I felt it was quite limited and was quite disappointed not to see Loch Fyne Kippers on the menu. It wouldn?t stop me going back though.

We stayed at the Ardshiel for a few days but found what is a lovely hotel in a great location was let down by a few issues. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the food was also very good with excellent service. The negatives relate to the room. Firstly the TV occupied most of the desk area and ought to have been wall mounted out of the way. Next it was extremely hot in the room and no fan was available so I had to buy my own to be comfortable. Finally the bathroom had no hanging provision so all clothing had to be piled on the floor, and the wash hand basin was the smallest I have ever seen plus coupled with a large waterfall tap led to puddles on the floor at every use. It's a pity such easy fixes spoil an otherwise nice hotel.

Lovely hotel with spacious clean room overlooking the back garden. We are at the restaurant which served a good choice of traditional pub style food?.something for everyone. The staff were really good and were certainly working hard as both the restaurant and bar were busy throughout our stay. It looks like the reception bar and dining areas have been refurbished recently and there?s a large beer garden to the rear which is great for sitting out when the weather allows. We sampled quite a few of the impressive collection of whiskies behind the bar and it will take quite a few return visits to get through them all?so we will be back!!

Our first time at the Ardshiel, we stayed two nights and I would highly recommend it. The food was outstanding had the venison ragu one night and the ribs the next and both were excellent. The whisky bar is amazing, so many exceptional bottles. The staff I found to be friendly and accommodating, willing to go out of their way help. The rooms were nice, bathrooms are nicely updated. Combined with the Springbank tour and Cadenhead warehouse tasting a great first stop on our Vacation.
