“Andres greeted us warmly and offered food suggestions. We decided to stay in and order food from the in-house restaurant The Grain. Our hostess, Mahi, was well versed in the drinks and food. Her preparation of the drinks was outstanding and to quote my wife the best gin based drink she’s had to date. My drink, The Godfather, was also amazing. The starters and mains filled our bellies.

Rooms: Quite spacious compared to other hotels

Food and drinks: Drinks made by Mahi are amazing. Great conversationalist and mixologist to boot. Food was scrumptious and filling.”

“Visited the Cove Bay hotel last night and we had a great time, staff were amazing! Very attentive, any time our drinks were almost finished they were over asking if we’d like a refill, they were fab with our toddler and the food was amazing! Well done all ⭐️”

“Would have been nice to keep the afternoon tea menus throughout the sitting, we'd forgotten what some of it was by the time we got round to it. Music was a bit loud but service, food and drinks surpassed expectations - thank you! This is by far the tastiest afternoon tea we have tried, and well worth the journey in. We've never been so happy not to see sandwiches!!It was brilliant being offered a 0% fizz alternative, and one which was really tasty too. The coffee was good but never very hot, despite being delivered very soon after ordering. I don't know if you usually settle the bill at the table, but we did feel a bit ignored once the plates had been cleared. Every staff member was polite and prompt otherwise, and looked genuinely happy to be there. I've had mixed service/food in the past at Malmaison Aberdeen and this was brilliant. I'll definitely be back!”

“My family and I had the pleasure of staying at The Marcliffe Hotel for one night from Sunday, August 10 to Monday, August 11, 2025, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish.

This five-star hotel truly lives up to its reputation, thanks to its outstanding staff and impeccable service.

Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Carly at reception. As a party of four, we initially faced an issue with the hotel’s policy of allowing only two people per room. Carly went above and beyond to understand our situation and promptly secured a second room for us, ensuring our stay was comfortable and stress-free. Her professionalism and kindness made a lasting impression—thank you, Carly!?

The dinner at the hotel’s restaurant was a highlight of our stay. The meal was delicious, beautifully presented, and showcased the culinary expertise of the kitchen team. It was the perfect way to unwind after a long day.

The next morning, we had an early flight to catch, and the staff’s thoughtfulness truly shone through.

Tony, who was in charge of the front area, was incredibly accommodating and arranged for special sandwiches to be packed for our journey. These were expertly prepared by Chef Dave and Fraser in the kitchen, and we could taste the care and pride they put into their work. The sandwiches were a lifesaver and made our travel day so much more pleasant.??

The Marcliffe’s staff are truly its greatest asset—everyone we encountered was kind, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our stay memorable.

The hotel itself is elegant and comfortable, but it’s the exceptional service that sets it apart. We can’t recommend The Marcliffe enough and will definitely return on our next visit to Aberdeen.

Thank you to Carly, Tony, Chef Dave, Fraser, and the entire team for making our short stay so special!”

Great service from all the staff and nothing was too much bother! The room is such a great space and we were able to add decorations too! Can’t recommend enough!”

“If you want to start the year off right... a visit to the Palm Court is a must. It's a tradition for us on the 1st of January in between visiting family to pop past for a spot of lunch. It is such a warm and welcoming restaurant and the staff are brilliant, so kind and friendly. They have a wide variety of large meals, roasts, and lighter bites such as soup, toasted sandwiches, and baked potatoes, which makes for an ideal nibble throughout the day. I would advise booking ahead of time as both the bar and restaurant fill up fast and with free parking onsite it's perfect for special occasions, coach parties or just a general catch up with friends. It also looks like a wonderful place to stay as well but have only ever tried out their food. The steak sandwich and chicken ciabatta are delicious, served in large portions, and served within no time at all. It really does fill a New Years Day hunger! If you want to think outside the box for food in Aberdeen, the Palm Court has it all!”

“Absolutely antastic room. It was a large studio apartment with a very comfy bed and lots of nice little touches. Shower beer, plenty of snacks and a decent coffee machine. The location is central and very handy but unfortunately you can hear the clock chime every now and again but that is a minor detail.Would highly recommend and will definitely be staying again!”

Staff have been exceptionally friendly.
The room was large, nice, and clean with good amenities.

The restaurant has been the best bit with an exceptional roast lamb. And the complimentary breakfasts in the morning have been top class.

“I have to highly recommend the Dunavon House Hotel. We spoke to Stuart Rattray last year about using their hotel as the venue for our wedding. We had a few meetings with Stuart to organise everything and nothing was too much for them. We set our date 1 March 2024. On the day all I can say is that Stuart and his team were superb and the day went without a hitch. The setting up of each part of the day was slick and stress free. The food was sublime and the attention from all the staff was top class. I cannot thank and praise them enough for such a wonderful day and evening. Highly recommend for any event that you may have.Rooms: SuperbFood & drinks: Absolutely sublime”

“We had a wonderful family celebration for my husband’s 40th in the Granite Balcony. All of the ladies in the events team were extremely helpful in the planning stage and always promptly replied to any questions I had. The Granite Balcony itself is a stunning room to hold any private celebration. There was plenty of space to move around the table and the decor is just lovely. Kyle, our main waiter for the night was excellent as was all of the team. Friendly, service with a smile and very attentive. The meal was faultless, all of our family have commented on how good the food was. We stayed the night in a comfortable, quiet room and rounded off our celebrations with a lovely breakfast. Thank you to everyone at The Chester Hotel for helping to make my husband’s 40th birthday so special.”

“Love this hotel - amazing friendly staff - always care for you and your needs. I have a disability and on my stay it’s always catered for. I’ve stayed in many Hilton hotels and this is definitely one of my favourites. Love the pool - and they’re great with the dogs, leaving them treats and bedding. Enjoyed the executive ”

“We had booked a table for 6 today for my mother’s birthday and were not disappointed. The accomodations made for us and notice to detail did not go unnoticed.

We had 2 people with a halal dietary requirement. Most places would give you fish or vegetarian options. Ardoe went to the effort of sourcing halal chicken for the coronation chicken sandwiches and made suitable sausage rolls.

The young waiter was very friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much for him.

The quality of all of the ingredients was very fresh including the bread. The flavours were well balanced and you all got your own pot of tea or coffee.

The environment and atmosphere at Ardoe was high class.

By far the best afternoon tea we’ve had and we’ve had a few. Thoroughly recommend.”

“This hotel is comfortable and traditional. The dining area, bar and foyer are old fashioned but in a good way, as the furnishings are antique. The staff are smartly dressed and pleasant. The rooms are spacious and the beds huge and comfortable. If you are looking for a whitewashed funky hotel with generic pictures on the walls, look elsewhere.”

Well done the team!Rooms: Room was well maintained, clean and had a hreat view over the harbour.Walkability: Attached to the railway station with parking available. (Not hotel carpark) Covered route from carpark through station and shopping centre.”

“Generally, most staffs are amazing. However, reception greeting (manager?) was transactional.Location is not very central, but 15 minutes usually. All facilities are provided (laundry, gym)”

“The hotel itself isn’t very modern.
The rooms are quite dated & there was a slight musky smell in ours.
That being said it did the job and was clean.
Service upon arrival was friendly, however I found throughout the stay staff could’ve been more friendly and welcoming.

For the price the location was good near to amenities & the town.

The pool was great for our children.”

“5* every time I have been here the staff are absolutely amazing so kind and very helpful . We went last night again and there was a slight mix up with our room however the lady at reception sorted it straight away and was happy to help . She then came to our room with paw patrol bubbles and chocolates for the kids and us which she really didn’t have to do . The lady on reception deserves a promotion she is absolutely amazing . Thank you”

“Visited for a staff meal (30 diners)Food was nice, portion sizes varied for our starters between dishes (some huge portions, others seemed on the small side)Main courses were all well presented and tasted good. Each member of the group seemed to enjoy their meal and the ones I've spoken with since have only good things to say about the meal and service.”

“Spent a long weekend here in March 2024. The room was comfy, the Wi-Fi was reasonably quick, the staff were lovely and the food was pretty good.No dedicated car park but there is one adjacent that has a reasonable daily rate.Walkability: Aberdeen as a whole seems like a very accessible city. The hotel does have an accessible entrance but it is at the rear and the street leading to it has narrow pavements. A powered door would be a great addition.”
