Great staff, good food , nice room, no loud music or TVs . Perfect place for a chilled relaxing stay.
Rooms: Our room had a comfy bed, spacious room, nice bathroom.
Nearby activities: Witney town is lovely little market town, 30 mins from Oxford, 10 minutes to the Farmer's Dog Pub ( Jeremy Clarksons pub), 30 mins to Diddly Squat farm shop, 15/20 mins to RAF Brize Norton if you're visiting anyone.
Safety: Never felt unsafe at all. The Hotel has no car park but there is a free car park 3 minutes walk away which I was informed was safe to leave your car overnight
Walkability: Due to the age of The Blue Boar there isn't a lift so bee prepared to climb a couple of staircases to get to your room
Food and drinks: Food and drink at the Hotel was excellent

Over priced. £4.60 for what turned out to be a tiny sausage roll. Really, is that the best you can do ? There was more brown sauce than sausage.
Hot chocolate that wasn't really hot.
Won't be going there again.

Restaurant is empty apart from 3 tables . Waited at reception for 8 minutes for someone to seat me to be told they aren't taking bookings because they are getting ready for valentine's night ....

I'd be inclined to highlight the best part of our experience, the service ! The lovely young lady who helped us throughout, and Daniel just topped it all up with his gentle professionalism and approach, in finding time and adequacy in looking after all the tables, in making sure everything is ok ! Nice one Daniel, we'd be back just for that, if nothin else !

So have been going to blue Boar for years and never had a problem and food has been ok.
But yesterday I went in for lunch and had a ham and cheese panini, the lovely waitress brought out food out, the panini was cold which I first found odd and after further inspection iafter a few bites I realised there was no cheese in the panini, I ask the waitress and she said she would take it back, the chef tore up a bit of cheese and put in panini and gave back.
I was slightly surprised, would have though a fresh panini with melted cheese and ham but not he just tore up some cheese open the part eaten sandwich and shaped it to where I had eaten, anyway when I got it back, I had one bite and left it.
Very poor, think they may need a new chef.

Very pleasant but expensive

We ate at the restaurant but were rather disappointed. I had the gambas pili pili and was expecting a tasty dish but it was quite bland. I also had the Lebonese chips but they were just covered in spring onions and ketchup. There was nothing special about them. My husband ordered the pollo al ferno as his main and there were only 3 little bits of chicken in it.
We were hoping for some flavour but, unfortunately, the dishes were found to be lacking.

My family and I came for lunch on the 1st of January. Unfortunately we had very long waits for the food and it came cold when it finally arrived. It was flavoured well and the ambience is nice but they appeared overwhelmed by a large table and it impacted our experience.
Had potential but unfortunately did not meet expectations.
After communicating this to the staff they did reduce our bill which was very appreciated.
Child pizza was also a little spicy as an fyi. Delicious for adults though.

As a hotel is very nice, the food is really good, and the staff, specially the Spanish lady at reception, were all very nice and kind, however, if you go just for breakfast, it's not the same. Two weeks ago I went with my husband at 9.30 am, no one else at the bar, 2 members of staff, they gave us the menu, we had a seat, and after 15 min waiting, no one came to take our order, the girl was so busy looking at her phone, so we left, and went to Coffee Smith (100% recommended). It is not the first time that it happened to us, and it is really disappointed. It's gonna take a long time to try again.

Rooms desperately need upgrading location not great as there is no parking. Staff really friendly. The breakfast wasn?t great.
