The location is very good.I go there every time while I?m shopping in John Lewis.Even though I enjoy the cakes and food, the service is very bad. The tables are always full of empty plates and cups etc. I had to clean and wipe the table today. There is not enough staff as usual.

Visited JL and the Christmas decorations are out on the shopping floor. The trees all beautifully decorated in various teams to cater to the taste of most shoppers. There is a counter on the 1st floor to book to see Santa later on in the winter.

Very bad service from the ?duty manager? called Adam at the Oxford store today. He was very rude and aggressive. This resorted to a telephone call to customer service and another duty manager called Dan to resolve the issue which could?ve been avoided if Adam had been properly trained for his role.

Attended today for a long-standing appointment to get advice about prams and other items for an infant, allowing 45mins. The attendant provided only generic advice with no tailoring to our particular needs. The service was worse than useless (it left us more confused than we?d started): when we tried feeding back in person, the attendant didn?t seem to listen, but kept on talking at us in a confusing manner, jumping from option to option, with no ability to zoom out and give us an overall understanding of what factors we should consider in comparing product against product. Having to look up the answers to most of our questions by using their phone, the attendant appeared to be misinformed about several products and unable to give any clear answer about the safety of infant car seats. There was no added value to the in-person appointment & general shopping experience, as compared to simply visiting the JL website. This was a disappointment especially given our previously positive experiences with JL.

Went to the John Lewis cafe for the first time today. My tea and cakes were amazing and Hannah was extremely helpful with the information about allergens. They were super friendly! Great experience, I would recommend.

Just wanted to say a big huge thanks to Courtney in the YSL Make up department. She was amazing, patient and really helped guide me through a new face (aka make up!) Thank you so much Courtney! I'll be back soon! x

0/5 stars for the staff that was working today at the baby department in Westgate.2 young ladies that were chatting to each other when 2 couples and myself were there. I went to them to ask if the item in the box was displayed somewhere and one of the girls just showed me in which direction I should go.A good few minutes after, I asked about the final price for an item that was on the sale shelves and had damaged packaging but not a reduce price on it. All I got was ?it?s full price, sorry?.Maybe it?s not only the staff that it?s LACKING everything a sale person should be, but also John Lewis for having so low standards and hiring these people anyway.

I've had the pleasure of visiting the Westgate store multiple times in recent months, due to chronic issues with foldable smartphones.Whilst the faulty Samsung products have been frustrating to endure, I have always been met with absolutely excellent customer service from a member of the tech support team named George.Sometimes it can seem like the Universe has sent someone to take care of you, and George definitely embodies this. He has patiently assisted me with any and all issues that I've had with my phone; whilst providing friendly chatter and a reassuring warmth. It's never a nice thing when your phone breaks. But thanks to George, Christina, Aaron and crew I have genuinely left John Lewis feeling much more uplifted than when I entered. Every single time.I am extremely grateful to you all, and I hope that JL Oxford are aware of how excellent their tech support staff are.Thankyou so very much,Michael ?

In my experience, the best department store around. Great choice, high quality, knowledgeably helpful staff and reasonable prices. The cafe and restaurant are also worth visiting. The personal shopping and wedding list services are also worth using.

Monday 19th of June at half four I met Rose at the 3rd floor at the travel section. She helped me by offering details about a backpack in a lovely friendly, professional, and gracious way. Top customer service. Thank you, Rose, ?

Cafe on the 1st floor does not match up to John Lewis usual standards. Don't call it a 'toastie ' if the filling is not melted (cheese) or even warm ! It's a sandwich ! I am told they are pre made and just warmed up ! Cafe generally grubby, no serviettes, no bottled water, and very very limited for choice which excluded even simple dietary requirements. Disappointed !

John Lewis is one of those unique shopping experiences. I especially love their fragrance department.

Went in here recently. Like a good old fashioned department store and still has that John Lewis feel, but it is eroding. Staff no longer seem to wear smart uniforms but many of them look like they've been covered in glue and rolled through a charity clothing skip. One group of staff were all lolling about talking about the weekend they were about to have - all sounded and looked unprofessional. I think this store will eventually close - there just don't seem to be the customers. The new Westgate is a total white elephant anyway, and has bled the traditional shopping street of Cornmarket of most of the chain retailers it used to have. Cornmarket now is a collection of eateries and sweetshops. If John Lewis leaves the Westgate I doubt whether that end of it will cope. I guess Primark and Next might keep its head above water. Walking along the lower concourse is like a zombie movie. Barely a customer, and a smattering of bored shop assistants. The Westgate is too big for Oxford - that's the bottom line. Just too big.
