I was informed by some people outside the store that Co-op have refused to take on a higher animal welfare policy for their chickens while other retailers, such as M&S, have. This supermarket is supporting cruelty to chickens by allowing Frankenchickens to be used in their supply chains. Other options are available, such as switching to breeds with higher welfare outcomes. I won't be shopping here again until they do the right thing.
