Supposed to open at 10am. It didn't. Had to catch my train.

Why to a talk about the magnificent and very rare 13th and 14th century stained glass. A very special church, a place of peace and calm

I was made welcome by the priest and church warden. I stayed at the back of the church where there were tables and chairs, which enabled me to read my book and reflect.

Quaint and very historic.

I love the generous open hours and also the informative signage explaining the medieval stained glass. It felt welcoming to all, whether you were stopping for worship, history, or just curiosity.

Beautiful church, once Roman Catholic but now protestant. Spoke to the church warden who was very cold and rude. Not very Christian at all.

One of the many interesting pieces of architecture that can be found throughout the city. It is nice to walk around and explore the entire city to see what you can find.

Visited for the glass, but there is so much else of interest and, remarkably, you may find yourself with this hidden gem all to yourself! The church seems to open regularly for visitors, and there is a service on Thursday mornings, the clergy are very welcoming and friendly. Oh, and there is a superb guide book for sale, which, if I dare to say it, is even better than the Minster?s!

Very beautiful and lively little church. Many medieval artifacts, sculptures, and stained windows.

Closed when we went even though it said it was open. Was really looking forward to seeing the stained glass. Made for a really nice walk through the Gardens so all was not lost. Hope I get a chance to go back. Edited to 5 stars. I did not intend on giving a bad rating as we did not actually get to see anything but the outside. We did figure some construction was taking place due to a work van and a barricade. Thank you for your reply.

Absolute gem of a church. We had it all to ourselves this afternoon and spent two glorious hours exploring a small space packed with history. Should be on the itinerary of everyone who visits York. Wish we could have found the light switches though as it was very dark!

Charming medieval Anglican Church (even if closely hemmed in by not so nice modern buildings) close to Lendal Bridge. Numerous interesting features including a Roman pillar, carved wooden 'screens', angels adorning the ceilings, a depiction of someone wearing spectacles (?!) in the copious stained glass and other features reflecting its history. Not "over-polished" but if it were that would detract from its charm. We visited on a sunny day and the Church was bright and welcoming.Free to enter: make a donation or buy a candle.
