Attended a wedding.
This was an outdoor wedding, the weather managed to stay dry.
The setting was perfect , excellant service from all the staff, in a fabulous part of the Wirral.

Terrible experience, the staff from entry point were extremely rude and unaccommodating. We ended up leaving after one hour of being in the hotel, considering we advised the hotel in advance we were there for a birthday it was extremely disappointing to receive such terrible service and have such a bad experience. Hotel was nice but the staff working front of house let it down completely, after working for several 6 star hotels it was disappointing to want to come somewhere and spend £600+ for a night and not get good quality service.

Spa day package was very overpriced as treatments were short and of an extremely poor quality. It was clear the therapists were inexperienced.
Use of spa facilities was lovely but the floor around the pools were dirty because they let people wear outside shoes (rather than provide slippers/flipflops).
Staff were rude and unhelpful.
Overall wouldn?t reccomend. Very disappointing, especially for the price.

Nice spa experience and lovely staff. Rooms all clean and well presented. Sadly no vegan starters or mains in the main restaurant we wanted to eat in, we got sent to the brasserie however and they catered for us with a delicious dhaal curry.
Only negative is having to pay for robes and flip-flops, other spas include this at no extra cost. That aside I'd deffo visit again.

Overnight stay on a Facebook deal. Spa on arrival day, drinks voucher each and full English and continental breakfast on departure day. Everything was excellent ?? - rooms spacious and clean, bed firm but comfortable, Hotel itself welcoming but could do with a lick of paint here and there (reception area). Carl park very big with well spaced bays. Check in procedure quick and fuss free.
The bar is lovely and cosy. Breakfast was excellent and plenty of choice. Checkout at 11am was much better than other places where it's 10am. Meant we could chill out a bit after breakfast without rushing about.
Only issue we had was wasps!!! Wasps flying around the outdoor hot tubs and wasps flying around the breakfast buffet (they'd left a window open and they'd got in through there. This may not bother you but if, like me, you are a bit afraid of wasps, then beware!
Other than that small thing, it was excellent and I highly recommend Thornton Hall hotel and Spa.
Btw, if you don't want to spend a fortune in the restaurant for your evening meal, there's a Wetherspoons pub 2 miles down the road called The Prense Well. We had a cheap but lovely meal there.

Stayed for a few nights as working nearby. Really helpful staff, nice rooms, fantastic restaurant and a great location.
Will go back again when I am in the area.

Attended a wedding, set in beautiful gardens, Staff friendly, Food was of a BBQ style not that great, did not taste like it was barbecued, and anemic looking, however the salads where delicious.

Awful. Please dont waste your money. Spent a lot of money on a 'treat' stay here. Was served a drink in the hot tub with a rat or mouse dropping in the bottom of it, the inside of the jam jar served with our scone tea was black and mouldy, some of the staff were really lovely and helpful (and clearly embarrassed) whilst others were rude, huffy and just treated us like an inconvenience. Ended up leaving early and were assured 'customer relations ' would sort things for us yet all we recieved was a brush off. No apology or offer to make it right. Very sad to be writing such an awful review but having got nowhere with the customer relations there weren't many other options.

We were really looking forward to our stay here, but sadly it was a big disappointment and not at all what you would expect from a 4-star hotel. The entire place feels run down, uncared for, and in serious need of investment and attention to detail.
Our room was particularly poor. The wallpaper was ripped in several places, the walls were chipped and marked, and there was a thick layer of dust on the lamps and in the wallpaper detailing. We also noticed cobwebs in the corners, which clearly hadn?t been cleaned for some time. It was obvious that housekeeping is not being done thoroughly, and the overall cleanliness left a lot to be desired.
Unfortunately, the issues weren?t limited to the room. The hotel grounds were messy, with discarded beer bottles left around, which creates a really bad first impression and shows a lack of care.
This is simply not the standard you?d expect for the price or the 4-star rating. The hotel has potential, but it urgently needs a full refurbishment, a deep clean, and much better attention to housekeeping and maintenance to bring it up to a proper standard. At the moment, it feels neglected and well below expectations

I booked here as a suprise for my mum's birthday in January, I booked with spa seekers voucher (which must of been my first mistake) when I booked and confirmed everything through email with the receptionion team I then upgraded to afternoon tea and booked in at the spa with an evening meal booking at the terrace.
I then also upgraded through the website to the grand clubroom and birthday decorations.
On arrival we first went for afternoon tea which was fantastic the staff were amazing, and the food was delicious also!
When we went to check in for our room however, it took them ages to find our booking, but after a while stood in the reception they did, when we got to the room it was actually 2 single beds in a small room. I went to the desk and they said they had no such upgrade and this was the one I had chosen, even though I paid more for the bigger room with bigger beds.
We then went to the spa which was completely packed, all the sauna rooms and hot tub areas were crowded and taken up by people not staying at the hotel, the pool was also full of people doing laps and giving you dirty looks for sitting around or interrupting them if you tried to do some swimming.
After that we went back to the room untill dinner, I had a reservation for the terrace (which I had conformation on my phone).
When we got there it was all reserved and they couldn't find our booking anywhere. I showed them the confirmation email and they were very confused but couldn't help as it was all booked out for the evening. The staff did find us a table inside next to the terrace and gave us a free bottle of prosecco when we told them what had happened with the room and now this.
The staff were really lovely and I feel awful leaving this review, but I spent a lot of money for my mum to have a lovely relaxing birthday but it turned into a stressful evening with her feeling not very looked after by all the mix ups that went on that day.
