“So who knew that an EICR is basically worthless? because there is no one to enforce the regulations if the work is dangerous....
This was the situation I discovered recently when looking to have a new light fitting added, so I called Will Sharpe from JES thinking this will be a simple job.... To my surprise and horror the previous company (based in Kirton) who had carried out an EICR report on the safety of the electrics, had lied about the whole thing, claiming the installation was safe, however this was far from the truth and basically it was a death trap waiting to happen, even the mains doorbell was unsafe! - This was verified by two electricians, including one not from JES.

So faced with notification that the installlation was unsafe, I instructed Will Sharpe from JES Electrical to do the necessary works, basically a re-wire of much of the property to make it safe and compliant. It's a warning that despite so called safe guards, and a letter to the MP there are unfortunately cowboys who are prepared to go home leaving your home as a potential death trap, and good luck taking any official action, as there is no regulator who'll take action, as for Trading Standards, don't make me laugh.

All I can say is I have used JES, and Will Sharpe, and his colleagues before they have everytime done a great job, and I use no one else now for such work, because they can be trusted to do a safe compliant job.”

On arrival at the store I was greeted by a female member of staff and I have to say I was impressed, very polite, professional, and courteous, as I made my way to the counter she asked me very politely if I needed any assistance. I explained that I came to collect 3 items, without any fuss she headed to the bike department and collected my items, came back with a smile and said my receipt will be through my email. With all this, it's truly put my faith back into visiting Halfords again, the customer service was through the roof, absolutely brilliant, I really couldn't have asked for anything better. However - Matalan, put your tightfisted hand in your wallet and put fans or air-conditioning in. It wasn't even a hot-hot day when I visited and I was sweating in there. Your poor staff deserve better than working in that!”

“Went in looking for a special buy, but couldn't find it, a fork and spade as a set. Luckily found someone in the store, who went on the hunt and discovered it tucked away at the front of the store, not in a great place for a promotion offer, with the store layout. Decided it wasn't as good a fork at the £11 they had, so bought two garden forks instead and they are very robust.”

“Poundstretcher is one of those stores that's always worth visiting, as they usually have such a wide range of products, and more than a few bargains. This branch is similar in size to most of their other in town stores I've visited with plenty of space to get around the aisles. Stock wise, they'd been selling off their Summer garden ranges with 25% off, so a few sparse or empty shelves as they changeover their seasonal ranges to Halloween & Christmas. Unlike most of their other branches I've been to recently, I was disappointed that this one had very little in the way of DIY & paint in particular, but found everything else I popped in for. Staff seemed pleasant enough, although didn't see many around, so a bit of a queue at the tills. Perhaps not the best Poundstretcher I've been to, but that's mainly as it was clearly in a transitional phase as far as stock goes, but overall, not too bad.”
