“We had a wonderful stay at the Hillside Hotel. Andrea and the team at Hillside looked after us very well and were friendly and helpful. The hotel has a lovely setting above the town, there are beautiful gardens with many places to sit and enjoy the sea views. Parking is provided. Our sea view room was stylish and well maintained, with quality bedding and everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The breakfast was another highpoint with a good selection of very tasty food, including cooked options, having breakfast between 8 & 9 am worked well for us but may not be good for those who like to sleep in until later. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay again if we have the chance to return to the Isle of Wight”

“Not your normal looking pub but tucked away up a short drive with a lovely courtyard. Great atmosphere and service and wonderful Italian food. We enjoyed it so much we went there twice during our week's holiday. The first time we both had the sea bass special, which was exceptional, and the second time we had to try the famous lasagne and glad we did, the best we have ever had! Wine good and Tribute beer from the barrel, what more could you want. Book in advance as very popular.”

“My wife and I stayed at The Royal Hotel for four nights - dinner, bed and breakfast - in mid-October 2023. We had an excellent stay. Service, accommodation and food were all of a very high standard. The cuisine especially was very good. Two slight negatives. Firstly, we found our room very warm at night and so not always great for sleeping (and this, remember, was mid-October). Secondly, we thought we noticed a drop in the number of waiters in the dining room towards the end of the week and slower service as a result. Nevertheless, good value for money. We would be strongly inclined to return to The Royal in the event of another stay on the Isle of Wight.”

“We booked here for the views, access to walks and for it being very dog friendly.A great place, with friendly staff and nice menu, including specials each day.The weather regrettably was poor on the Saturday so we didn’t get to do the walks we wanted to, but there are plenty nearby including the coast path. However we had a great lunch with family and this led into later in the afternoon with a few more drinks and great atmosphere. The room we had was very spacious, clean and tidy. The bathroom was to a good standard also. Whilst comfortable, the mattress was a little too soft for my liking, but this is obviously individual preference.Breakfast was included in the price and there is a good range of choice and very flavoursome. We will certainly look to stay again in the future when doing a weekend stay as it was overall well priced and good value for money.”
