The Godfather offers decent seaside fish and chips. The cod was lovely and fresh with a light batter which tasted great, the chips were good. We had two cod and medium chips which would have come to around £24 pounds but as I am a Blue light card holder we had 10% discount which was a real bonus.

Last day of a week on the Isle of Wight and we needed fish and chips.
The Codfather certainly delivered!
What struck me most was just how friendly all of the young staff were. You don't often get that in takeaways, but these ladies were all very chatty and smiley.
The fish and chips itself tasted great, showing no surprise why this business has been running for 25 years!

Loved this place ?? staff were amazing ? friendly banter from the moment I walked in (was wearing a Leicester city top) everything was cooked fresh so piping hot ? you can eat in but we took our chips and sat on the beach (just a short drive) and the chips we're great (not greasy) and the fish was amazing (lovely batter)

Ok food, portions are on the smaller side and turns out (when asking) the vegetarian sausages are cooked in the meat fryer but advertised as being vegetarian ?

The Codfather has been around as far as i can remember. Always consistantly great authentic Chippy. Staff always welcoming and ready to serve. Also a generational local Isle of Wight family business.

Cod fish was fresh, chips good. Only a few seats. Overall a nice stop for a meal. The pies looked good too.

We popped in before heading to the ferry looking for hot food and a place to sit out of the cold wind for the kids! We weren't disappointed! The kind lady said if the 12 of us (7 adults and 5 kids) could fit, then we could sit! All the food was made to order and didn't take long at all! It was hot and tasty, we all really enjoyed it! Decent portion size, tasty food, and the staff were great too! They were helpful and patient with the kids! Thanks for a brilliant meal!

Went to the cod father while down ryde and decided to try their battered halloumi. It was so good i went back and got another to take home for mum to try. Will be trying the battered baby bell next but i doubt it will be as good as the halloumi!!

Before we headed home took a stroll along the beach front in Ryde, came across this place, young chap behind the counter very friendly and chatty, good range on the menu, ordered medium and large fish with chips, cooked to order, small seating area, meals came short while after, shop started to become very busy as we waited, fish was lightly battered and chips cooked to perfection, not disappointed, highly recommend
