The refurbishment of this hotel took me by surprise, and I must admit the treatment of the cabin area reminded me of my summer season working at Butlins. Not that it was unpleasant, quite the opposite. Each cabin boasts a covered veranda with lounger where I spent a pleasant afternoon with a book and glass of cider chatting to neighbouring residents. Much preferable to those long corridors found in most hotels.\\nThe room was a fair size, well presented, clean, and with the biggest bed have ever encountered\\nThe menu is a little limited and the food lacks that little spark that would set it apart from the norm. However, I would make a special mention of the Sunday lunch which was very good indeed.\\nThe staff were pleasant and introduced themselves by name, not a usual experience.\\nQuick tip, Sunday evening sees free sausage rolls put on the bar for pub regulars. Look confident and you can nick one.

Just checked my bank statement and I noticed after ordering food and drink the 12.5% discretionary service charge was added without me being asked!! I find that sharp practice and has put me off returning. After Max told me to call he was very kind to refund the whole amount and I really was not expecting that....so thks for that and for the good customer service I received over the phone on the times he couldn't be reached.Hence I've upped my rating to 4 and will return as food, ambiance and staff very good.

First of all, the room. I was extremely reluctant to deduct any marks, there was the faintest hint of the aroma produced by something damp, such as a carpet although, I couldn't see any physical evidence of it and when I mentioned it to a staff member, they gave me the distinct impression of concern and disappointment, but I have no doubt it was dealt with, as absolutely everything else was outstanding. It has to be said that it wasn't enough to disturb nor discourage us, in fact I found the room to be very comfortable, spotlessly clean and tidy, with excellent facilities. The whole Inn has the racing horses theme throughout. From the paddock outdoor area, stable themed bedrooms and the main pub having saddle blankets and many other 'horsey' items all around. The choice of beers, wines and food are wide and appealing, with plenty of space inside and out, definitely well thought out and inclusive.Another plus is the excellent sized car park, lots of space, even for the 4x4 crowd, who usually have to squeeze into spaces designed for 1940's cars.Back to the bedrooms, which have one of the most comfortable beds I've encountered in a long time, Premier Inn beds are very good, these beds are easily the equal, if not better, with pillows to match. I often struggle to sleep comfortably, due to shoulder issues, but I slept like a log here and I can't often say that! There's a large TV, that you can "mirror" to with your phone, if you wish. There's plenty of storage space, comfortable sitting chairs inside, with Italian style patio table and chairs just outside each room. Ironing facilities are in the wardrobe and a neat kettle with teas and instant coffee, or if you prefer, there's an excellent coffee pod machine, for a fresher, stronger tasting cup of coffee. The shower area is spacious and provides a very satisfying shower experience, all very clean and well lit.At the time of our stay, temperatures were hitting 37°c and staying around 20°c overnight, so the owners had provided 'Dyson' fans for each room and although A/C is obviously better (and prohibitively expensive), the fans definitely did provide some much appreciated relief during the night. The lasting impression is one of being made to feel welcome and valued by every member of staff, despite their being very busy, it was definitely well worth staying.

The manager and staff went out of their way to make my visit memorable. This is not a luxury hotel, but their dedication to service is top-notch ?????. They are very responsive to the needs of their guests. Their food is generally very good, and the servers will give honest recommendations, so ask.

We stayed here night before going to Southampton for cruise. Lovely location. Had a snack to eat with some wine, food menu looked great. Pets welcome. Rooms amazing, stable doors.Only disappointment was we went for breakfast but chef was running late!

Brilliant pub and expertly run by Craig, the manager, who is really a true hotelier, and heads up a good team. Food is always extremely good, well- prepared, hot and interesting. Good wine list, although we don?t drink beer, a lot of customers clearly enjoy the good range of beers. The Coronation Day celebrations were particularly good, especially their Coronation Quiche, which I hope they keep on the menu as it was fabulous, even though I am not a vegetarian, I appreciated the quality. Already looking forward to the next time we are over from Oz!

Lovely place with even lovelier staff!!We stayed overnight as it was not too far from Peppa Pig land, fastest check-in and checkout I?ve experienced in a long time. The room was spacious and well maintained.. There were just a few things that needed some tweaking, but really that?s nitpicking.Coffee was good, breakfast was good too.Would recommend definitely.

I was part of a large party who went to the Running Horse for lunch. The service was very good despite there being a good 15 or so of us and the pub was packed. The decor is brilliant. They've really run with the equestrian theme! The food was also excellent. I had the beef burger and the sticky toffee pudding. Both were well portioned and tasty. I will definitely be coming back to this pub!

What a great hidden gem this pub is! I went for the first time yesterday having randomly googled pubs between Andover and Winchester and we had a really good roast lunch. The staff were friendly and helpful and the kitchen was particularly understanding when I was not happy with an element of my meal, they generously replaced it immediately and the manager came over to ensure I was happy with the exchange. I can highly recommend and will definitely be going back again - what a great pub!

We had an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast.First things first, the atmosphere and decoration are second to none. I?ve been told they had a massive overhaul & re-decoration a few months ago and it?s really visible. The pub inside and out looks great, and the rooms are very comfortable, especially for £40-50 a night ! Can?t beat that really.Dinner was very good and we enjoyed the nice selection of wines, both by the glass & bottle.Breakfast the next morning was lovely. The pub & rooms are dog friendly ? what more could we ask for !We look forward to visiting again in the summer to enjoy the lively outdoor area.

Lovely place for a short stay. Rooms are horse stable themed and are off the back of the pub. Well equipped with large comfortable beds. Food was great (dinner and breakfast), and I have to say that it was one of the best evening meals out I have had in a while. The staff were great and really made you feel welcome. If you want somewhere in the country but only a short drive of Winchester then this is perfect.
