“Excellent vibes, customer service and products. I come here weekly with my dog after a walk in Finsbury Park. We are always greeted with kindness and warmth by all staff members there. Out of all charity shops in the area, this shop has the best curated finds. I always leave for 1 or 2 goodies.Shout out to the staff who give me dog treats while I shop! :)”
“The best place to receive information, advice and support for mental health, wellbeing, financial circumstances and employment. In addition recovery activities and volunteering opportunities.”

“I’m writing a review now as I’ve stayed up lating Googling to see what has become of Log Cabin. My twin sister and I went to Log Cabin in my primary school years, around 2007-2012, and I see a lot has changed since it’s now 2024. When I went there, it was just one building that was a big hall (actually made out of logs), and a little blue-painted art block next to it ran by Kalpana. And that was it, if I remember correctly. It is a key happy memory from my childhood: Kalpana would help us make Diwali pots out of clay, and there was a huge wooden climbing frame with ramps; we would jump off the top level (all supervised, of course), and crawl under the lowest part of the ramp. There was netting underneath it and a big swing (shaped like a sack) at the back that was like a zip wire. This was before Ofsted inspections led to the Log Cabin becoming more of a secure and modern unit for children, rather that the rowdy outdoor climbing and adventure playground it used to be. I remember playing in the sandpit and the wendy house; and they had an awesome tyre swing that swung between two wooden platforms, which was then replaced by a cross-shaped contraption (4 swings that went up and down as well as horizontally). As Log Cabin got redeveloped, they added a sensory room and an indoor softplay. I can’t find any photos online of the old Log Cabin, sadly. The idea of mixing mainstream kids with children with learning difficulties was excellent, and we learnt to mix and play with these children as if they were no different. When our mum arrived we would beg her to let us stay and play for longer. When my sister and I were there, the staff were Sam, Sara, Kalpana, David, Poonam and Dennis (the Mennis), and that’s all I can remember. Hope they’re all doing well.”
“There's so much here that I ended up getting a bit lost inside on my first visit. Haven't used the gym, so I can't comment on the equipment, but I really like a lot of the classes here and am impressed with how many different sports and activities they do. If I was going to join a YMCA, it would be this one!”
“Refuaid has been an absolute lifesaver for me. Their team responded to my needs incredibly quickly and provided the support I required. Their friendly and compassionate approach instantly put me at ease, making me feel like I was among friends. They not only offered practical assistance but also instilled a renewed sense of hope within me.Refuaid's dedication and commitment to helping individuals like myself is truly commendable. They go above and beyond to provide timely support and guidance. I am immensely grateful for their efforts, as they have given me the opportunity to pursue my dreams. If you are in need of assistance, Refuaid is the organization to turn to. They have my highest recommendation, and I can confidently say that they have made a significant impact on my life.Thank you, Refuaid, for being a beacon of hope and for your invaluable support!”
“Lost my mum two month ago, we call up helping hand to see if they will take all Mum belongings. There was quite a lot of it. There was no hesitation they came and picked it up at the time they said they would. Thank you very much helping hand you are a star.”
“Another year, another Old School Dinner, this time at Carpenters Hall. Lunch was a Waldorf Salad Starter, an excellent Sirloin roast followed by a cheese course washed down with far too much red, but the company of old friends somehow makes this acceptable. Good service, good food, copious drink, great venue, Amazing friends. A winning combination.”

“Great charity. The army benevolent fund supports soldiers, past and present, and their families, for life. One of the largest funders in the sector, they award grants to individuals and families, and fund leading organisations that support soldiers, former soldiers, and their families.”
“For: Really nice ready made food. Bag's already packed so you don't have to go inside.Against: fighting in the queue amongst the drunks. Continously walking to the off licence to get more alcohol. Shouting at one another. People fainting in the queue.Kids allowed run riot, up and down through the neighbours gardens and screaming non stop.My anxiety couldn't take it, so stopped going.”

“I cannot thank Highbury Grove and the staff enough. I've stayed here previously and this time around I've had two admissions since August. I was at complete breaking point and could see no light at the end of the tunnel. The support was excellent and staff readily available to chat whenever needed. The activities essentially helped too. Art therapy, yoga, cooking, creative writing and a therapist twice a week. My second stay was extended to 4 weeks. The house is now run by Hestia. Improvements .... Set one to one sessions would be very good.On a negative note the project is now to be for men only. Very saddening. Hopefully with input from service users, management could hopefully reverse this decision. Thanks you once again.”
“Always there when they're needed.Sometimes you will need some patience as they can be busy, but remember that they are a voluntary service and they are still dealing with the Covid Pandemic so sometimes there are less people available to help.Never give up.”
“It’s a shame to see some of the negative reviews when my experience here as a listening volunteer has been great.Despite how challenging it can be, I am with a team of caring, kind and very empathetic people that will always be there when in need. I consider myself lucky to be a part of the team and I’m grateful I’ve had the opportunity to join Samaritans.Every volunteer I meet at Samaritans is always welcoming and willing to have a chat.”
