We have recently returned home from our two-week Safari / beach honeymoon in Tanzania and Zanzibar. Our amazing personal travel agent Lyndsey booked our trip through Somak, and we couldn?t have been happier. In Tanzania we stayed in: Tarangire Simba Lodge, Karatu Simba Lodge and Serengeti Simba lodge, all of which were perfect! In Zanzibar we stayed in the Neptune Pwani Beach Resort which was also amazing! Everything from start to finish with Somak was perfect, the hotels, the food, the staff, the trips (Prison Island and Serengeti Balloon Ride) and the parks (Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater) which were all incredible. I mainly want to mention our safari guide Tissian, who was THE BEST! Tissian was so amazing, he really did make this trip a once in a lifetime holiday. He is so friendly, informative, and experienced. During our trip the roads in the Serengti were very bad, due to lots of rain, but Tissian drove so carefully, with our safety at the front of his mind. He really is an amazing driver in such challenging conditions. Tissian?s car was very reliable, we saw lots of other safari vehicles which had broken down, got stuck in the mud and even one car that had tipped in the mud, however Tissian never had any issues driving and always made us feel so safe. Tissian taught us so much about the animals, the wildlife and Tanzania, he also taught us some Swahili! Tissian made sure we were always happy and comfortable, with toilet stops when required and lots of water. Tissian knows the best spots in the parks, and he knew elephants were my favourite, so he made a conscious effort each day to spot lots of elephants. Dreadful. Recommended by my local travel agent, I booked an extremely expensive 3-location Africa holiday with Somak ?Luxury? Travel. I was very specific about the 4-night safari, which was excellent, but went with their suggestions for the other locations assuming that they understood the brief and were experts in Africa luxury travel. Somak clearly got deals with these hotels to maximise their profit as they were simply LHW group, overcrowded, impersonal, package-holiday hotels.Having put in a complaint with the reply that Somak ?would respond within 28 days, as per ABTA rules?, I?m still waiting.Avoid, they are an overpriced booking agent who under-deliver on luxury travel.

When we were thinking a trip Masai Mara and googling about a traveling company we came across Somak Travels which has a few reviews but we still went ahead and booked a 7 days trip with them.From the beginning we were interacting with an agent Celeste and we were very impressed how she interacted with us. Answering all our questions and concerns very well..As this company had few reviews we were little concerned about how the things would go. I can say it went very well.As soon as we landed at Nairobi airport, there was a person waiting for us with our name and took as to airport hotel, we rested there for few hrs and then our driver George was there to take us to Mara.George was very skilled and knew everything about the animals and the place.He showed us all the animals and made us very comfortable throughout our journey.Additionally, one morning we had breakfast organized for us in the bush with a beautiful view of the Mara River outside our camp.I highly recommend Somak Travels.

I have travelled with many travel companies and this is by far the worst experience so far. Extremely poorly organized, no help when in need of emergency assistance and incredibly rude customer service that shouted over me on the phone at me. Due to the poor organization we were unable to go on our trip and there wasn't a cent refunded or credit noted. I have heard good things about wildfontiers, fjsafaries since.

Just back from an amazing experience, on safari in Kenya with Somak. Everything was taken care of on the trip, from transfers to experiences and excursions. The hotels were very good in the most part (Ashnil ones were excellent). Our driver, Lawrence, was outstanding and really made the trip for us. His knowledge of the animals and ability to navigate the national parks from memory was baffling, he enabled us to see a huge variety of animals over the trip and worked tirelessly to ensure this. Can't wait to go back!
