“This little shop, to my surprise, has alot crammed in. Having said that, it's never a mess. Well organised and kept tidy. People there serving, are always pleasant and polite. Well done and keep up the good work.”

“Good shop, organised by product types and offers at 'Middle of Lidl'. Could do with better positioning of baskets, as they've recently been moved to the counters, not very helpful for shoppers entering. Queues at checkouts can get long, but the staff usually address the issue quickly by opening another one up. Car park is available, but it can become filled on popular days.”

“I’ve had consistently great experiences at Lidl Southend, especially thanks to the helpful and friendly staff. Whether it’s finding a product or needing help with something in-store, there’s always someone nearby ready to assist with a smile. The team works efficiently, but they never make you feel rushed. It’s clear they care about customer service, which really makes a difference.”

“Once you have successfully negotiated the rooftop car park, the shopping experience is good. Very helpful staff and of course, the free coffee if you have a Waitrose card.”

“Great friendly local pub with great food and excellent staff. It has become our local since moving to Wakering 5 years ago and we love every visit. They can’t do enough for you!!!”

“If you’re after a smooth landing into the weekly shop, Waitrose at Fossetts Way in Southend feels rather like stepping into a very calm First Class cabin only with a trolley instead of a seat. The car park alone deserves a round of applause: spacious, stress-free and no need to circle endlessly as if you’re stacking over Heathrow.

Inside, the atmosphere is relaxed and refined, with aisles wide enough to glide through without turbulence. The shelves carry those familiar luxury brands you’d expect, yet what I particularly appreciate is the Essential Waitrose range. It’s proof that good quality doesn’t have to come at a premium fare well priced, well made, and frankly, it keeps the weekly shop grounded.

The bakery is a highlight: cakes that could rival a patisserie trolley at 35,000 feet. The delicatessen is another treat, staffed by a gentleman who went above and beyond to be helpful the sort of attentive service that makes you feel looked after, not just served. At the checkout, a wonderfully chatty lady brightened the end of my shop with warmth and humour, a reminder that good service is about human connection as much as efficiency.

And let’s not forget the John Lewis selection tucked within a clever touch that turns a grocery run into a mini department store visit.

All in all, a seamless shopping experience. Bravo, Waitrose Southend, you’ve kept standards flying high.”

“I had the most wonderful experience at Aldi, thanks to the exceptional service provided by their staff member, Paul. My son, who has Down syndrome, was having a challenging moment and was crying. Paul’s kindness and compassion were truly remarkable. He approached us, cracked some jokes, and even gave my son high fives, which turned his tears into laughter. Paul’s genuine care and understanding made our shopping trip so much more enjoyable. Aldi, you have a gem of an employee in Paul, and I can’t thank him enough for his exceptional service and for brightening our day!”

“An excellent local shop. The staff are always attentive, friendly and helpful. The place is well stocked with a good choice and I’ve yet to visit and not find it immaculate. Other local supermarkets could take a cue from them ~ yes, Tesco, I’m looking at you…”

“Went in this shop as the premier up the road is a very rude and expensive shop. Went in to grab a couple of drinks as the day was extremely hot. The shop keeper was most welcoming, polite and very helpful. Even told us about an offer on a drink we bought that was 2 for £1. The customer service was real old school style and just awesome. Now I know I can go to a shop and be treated as a respected customer which means I will pop in more often. A+++ service. Thanks.”

“Great local store, easily accessible, with adequate parking . Adjacent to their coffee shop. It has a pharmacy, as it is a smaller store they may not have the full range of products that larger stores do.”

“Excellent store with all you need. Pity Southend Council have buggered up Victoria Circus making it difficult to access from the east.
Update: Still a good store but why have they closed their toilets? Some of us have a medical need for toilet access. Lidl can do it; why not Sainsbury's?”

“Sadly this Lidl doesn’t get staffed up enough. Staff are great but clearly busy and often looked stressed.
Lidl will have what you want, but the till queues are often 4-5 people deep. Come on Lidl, it shouldn’t be much different than Shoeburyness or Westcliff.”

“Jamie and laura are two of the best works i have seen in this tesco express. Honestly they are such lovely people and deserve alot of respect. Especially since they work night shifts till very early mornings and have to do and deal with alot. I have had many interactions with them and have helped me a significant amount every time i come in. They deserve alot of admiration for the work they do and the service they provide i haven't seen anything to that standard before, so truly they are one of a kind and deserve more than they get. So jamie and laura i respect to a very high extent.”
