“As a family of 'worms', this is one of our favourite places. Excellent selection of titles. Helpful, friendly staff. The ordering system is efficient. My daughter loves the smell of fresh print! Visiting a good book shop gives so much more than ordering online. Highly recommended.”

“I ordered some canvasses online & had to contact The Works customer service to arrange an exchange. I spoke to Martin who was exceptional and very helpful. He very quickly arranged an exchange at the Southend store. I've bought a lot of art supplies from The Works over the last few months & they have been great: good value & very good quality, plus the service has been brilliant. Excellent all round! Thank you.”

“Despite it's small size, this place sells some vital supplies for a hospital stay such as toiletries and almond milk for that dairy free diet. Good selection of magazines and sandwiches.”

“We visit WH Smith in Southend quite often. One of the stores assets is Laura who works on the front counter. Laura is always very pleasant, helpful, efficient and above all is customer focused.”

“If you love a bargain, but prefer new items or very good condition secondhand ones, then oxfam Southend is definitely worth a look. With the best opening hours of any charity shop I've ever visited, this one rarely closes before 6pm! Prices are a little steeper than I really like in my charity shops, but there's a lot of brand new stock from M&S, sainsbury and some really lovely things (like Ted Baker brand new dresses) on offer. Clean, bright and well organised display areas. Friendly, helpful manager and volunteers. Fitting room available Occasional events and competitions. Books, media, collectable, children's toys and clothing, home wares, men's and ladies' wear, accessories and jewellery.”
