Macro used to offer a great delivery service and if there was a problem and you phoned, they'd deal with it politely and efficiently, it was excellent service. Unfortunately now you can't phone them directly, you speak with somebody who says the Rayleigh branch will call you back, but they don't. Things are supposed to improve with technology, not go backwards, get your act together, it's the customer service industry!

My online business account was moved from Booker (Chelmsford Branch), where the service and deliveries were excellent, to Makro (Rayleigh Branch) and since then I have had nothing but problems. Out of the blue my online ordering for delivery stopped last week but I can go in store and pick the items myself and then they will deliver. Make sense of that if you can! No one calls you back and when they do they don't really know what's going on. I will start shopping elsewhere for my business. AWFUL!!!

Sad day. I know that covid 19 is dangerous and that we allneed to take care. But brought my 90 year old parents for an outing. But only 1 card holder + 1 can go in. No exceptions made. Not the end of the world but sad. Just a shame. No shopping for us today

After travelling to Makro for the first time in months I arrived to be told that my child was not allowed into the building because they are not letting people in who are under the age of 16. An utterly ridiculous policy. Will look into using another supplier from now on.

I love this place because it has a huge amount of parking and it's well spaced inside. Everyone loves the sweet isle as it take you back to when the local shop had all of the penny sweets out and you would fill your little paper bag up. On a more serious note a lot of the items are more expensive than the major supermarket chains and I have to think with my wallet and avoid impulse buying as it is so easy in a place like this, you go in to stock up on an item but end up filling your trolley with loads of items you do not even need. The checkouts can be a bit slow if its busy and they run out of self scanners quickly to as there are only a handful. With everybody panick buying toilet roll I knew I could rely on Makro to have stock as you have to be a member to enter.

Children under 16 not allowed in store...does this include babies in car seats?? Really? I'm a breastfeeding mother, so I have to bring my baby with me. To be told I was not allowed to bring my baby in is absolutely ridiculous. I needed to buy cleaning supplies so I sent my husband in there who came out with all the wrong stuff. Stressful afternoon and we wont be coming back.

Not as good as it used to be a few years ago im not sure that the bookers take over was for the best as a lot of the lines that were stocked a while ago have sadly dwindled away to nothingness for example where have all the electrical items gone? Gardening stuff? to name just a couple.Large areas of this store are also closed off with nothing happening, why? fill it with stuff that people want.

I usually travel to various Booker stores then found I could use my card here because Booker own them. It's so big with such a big selection that I'll be using them from now on.

This is a difficult review as I haven't been to Makro since it was taken over by Bookers some years ago and the range of products has changed considerably, so its difficult not to compare. As I understand it you still need to be a member to shop in store, which only takes a short time to register. The car park is huge and as you enter the building there are toilets to the right hand side. There are plenty of disabled parking spaces and access into the store is flat and easy. Once you've shown your store card your free to shop. The best way to describe it is like a giant warehouse, it's vast inside and a bit cold. All the electrical items they used to sell, i.e. CCTV, HiFi equipment and Tv's etc have all now been wiped from their stock list and it's really just a cash and carry for mainly food, sweets, alcohol and cleaning products, which I thought was disappointing. The remaining area of the store is now a stock area with large yellow rubber swing doors seperating the two. As I worked my way around he store I worked out the costs of buying in bulk from Makro's and purchasing singular items from other local stores such as Savers, Aldi and Lidl and unless you absolutely have to buy in bulk it's just not worth it, as in most cases the 3 shops mentioned above were either the same price or cheaper. Obviously I only checked 15 or 20 items but I'd seen enough and decided it's not for me. I preferred the old Makro store, loads more to look at, the cafe has also gone or was closed while I was there. On a positive note the fresh meat and fish looked to be really good andthe staff were friendly but I doubt that's enough to draw me back. Please see my pictures ð??
