Have visited the jolly sailor on several occasions and have to say I’m surprised they have any locals due to the landlady’s attitude!! She just sits there with a miserable face on and doesn’t make you feel welcome at all. The lady on the bar was lovely not sure of her nameAlso food wasn’t great

Came here for a family pre Christmas lunch. Lovely pub in a great location. Enjoyed my lunch of moules mariniere followed cherry pie. Worth a visit!

The Jolly Sailor is a charming country pub and family restaurant, located in the village of Heybridge Basin overlooking the Blackwater Estuary in Essex. Situated near the Blackwater and Chelmer Navigation Canal Lock Gates, it makes for pleasant trips on the river or canal, or leisurely strolls to the historic town of Maldon.
We have an outside patio, sea food bar and a Barbecue area available through from spring to autumn, subject to weather.
Quiz Nights & live music are regular events at the Jolly Sailor...
Our chefs provide a range of culinary delights, using fresh, locally sourced food products. This is complimented by an extensive range of beers, ales, spirits and wines from our cellar.
