“Only shopping mall in Brentwood with constant rumours of its demolition and a cinema being built there always in the air. Talk of the Borough Council pricing retailers out to achieve this aim abounds endlessly.... Only a handful of shops but a couple of real gems like Hey Joe's coffee and music store and the independent mobile phone shop at the back (which used to be on a handcart) and is always the place to go for advice and repairs (never been to the one next to Poundland.) A lot of change over the years-B&M closed several years ago and nothing reopened in its place, mobile phone store '3' has disappeared but is still listed there and Poundland has taken advantage of Wilko's demise and moved from the adjacent High Street into their vacant premises (which will be sadly missed.) Sports Direct (upstairs) The Works and the perfume shop get regular custom. The Square outside has also seen retailers come and go, CEX is another that sadly upped and left but Savers,EE and Card Factory are popular essentials. The Square also has seasonal events, there were Christmas activities yesterday with local performers and a German sausage hut usually resides over the festive period. Public toilets can be located at the rear of the centre.”
