“Generally a good store but the queues can be very long at some times of day, although if I go in after 9pm it’s very quiet. Currently being refurbished and scheduled to reopen on August 28th. Literally a shell at the time of posting this review.

UPDATE: engineering work finished on time (unlike on the railway!) and all-new fridges down most aisles, a new expanded self-checkout area has up to 19 tills with a parallel queue area, meaning access to the important wine and beers area isn’t space restricted by the queues. A good refurbishment that hasn’t moved stuff around unnecessarily, leading to wasted time trying to find what you went in there for.”

“So it was a busy lunchtime and I guess the dude in the high vis didn't want to queue so he put his lunch stuff down on the conveyerbelt of the unused checkout and started opening up his items.
I got my phone out to photo a dude making a sandwich still inside the supermarket.
All of a sudden, he kneels down, gets out a screwdriver and starts fixing the electronic gate at the empty checkout !!
And I thought he was an impatient sandwich maker....”

“Nice cheap store with the basics. Not much variety as it's a small place but with the essentials at a lower price. Both self check out boxes and counters to use although only one counter was on use when I visited the store. Good quality products. Can get busy at some times of the day. Be aware that the car park is small and limited to 1 hour and a half maximum stay.”

“lady at the checkout was nice. Freddos were a bit overpriced I must say. However - 10/10 would shop again. Monsters aren't stale. JAMMIE DODGERS! (The biscuit, not the staff.)”

“Good store, usually well stocked.
They are getting better with their vegan and plant based alternatives.
There are often some great offers and discounts.
The store is not always the cleanest and sometimes staff are hard to find when help is needed.”

“Quick and easy to get around the shop and was met with great service with a smile form a young man named George! Helped me find everything I need, nothing was too much a bother! Restores your faith in the young generation - only thing I will add is prices seem to be increasing…”

“Sainsbury's in Brighton is a reliable and well-stocked supermarket that caters to a wide range of shopping needs. Conveniently located, it’s easy to access by public transport or car, with ample parking available, which is a bonus in a busy city like Brighton.

The store is spacious, with wide aisles that make it easy to navigate, even during peak hours. The layout is generally well-organized, and you can find everything from fresh produce, bakery items, and household essentials to clothing, electronics, and home goods.

One of the store's highlights is its fresh produce section. The fruits and vegetables are usually of good quality, with plenty of organic options available. The bakery is another plus, offering a variety of freshly baked bread, pastries, and cakes. The selection of ready meals, particularly for those on the go, is also commendable, with both vegetarian and vegan choices.

The staff are generally friendly and helpful. While there are self-checkout machines available for those who prefer a quicker experience, the staffed checkout lanes often provide efficient service without long waits.

That said, some areas could be improved. Stock levels can be inconsistent, particularly for popular or promotional items. At times, certain products may be unavailable or limited. Pricing is on the higher side compared to discount supermarkets, though this is offset by the quality and variety offered.

Overall, Sainsbury’s in Brighton provides a pleasant shopping experience with a good range of products and friendly service. It’s a solid option for everyday groceries as well as specialty items.”

“During this weekends Fuel crisis, long queues of standing traffic....wonderful help from the Esso service station staff here ushering people to relevant and working available pumps. After a two hour hunt for fuel in Brighton on Sunday was most welcome assistance. Well done!”

“Not the biggest and best selection in the world but the staff are usually very friendly and helpful towards myself and my girlfriend and they love our little Daschund when he pops in with us. Good little convenience store. A little expensive for what it is and sometimes it's a little crowded but most of the staff are lovely people.”

“Good location for a mini mart in historic Tudor village of Rottingdean in Brighton with ample enough parking right outside but you have to pay for this parking, in amidst a row of shops, opposite a Hotel & bus stops either side serve here too, on a busy junction.”

“Accessible clean and some of the commission best quality food being sold on the Lewis road but I have to take a point away as I find this marks & Spencer convenient shop expensive to shop in even when my wallet it is full. This is not surprising for this store but the staff are friendly”

“Good selection, clean, well stocked, presented and rotated. Nice to see security on the door. Staff are usually upbeat and a couple even break into song on occasions which brightens my stop on the way to work.
Friendly, well run store.”

“Being in a superstore, it generally has a large selection of over the counter products and own brand medications, so you have a really good value for money. It does not offer a delivery service and there is no seated waiting area. However, generally speaking, most people will be looking to shop anyway, so a recommended tactic is to go there first, then come back when you are almost done. Pharmacy section looks good since the refitting although still suffers a bit from being cramped within the middle of two aisles.”

“The worker Amos would be the kind of guy I would like to meet if I was having a bad day he was cheery funny and extremely polite on my visit today I left with a smile”

“Most recent visit during work, I was helped by a lovely staff member, a man with a Scottish accent working in the frozen isle (unsure of his name but very kind and helpful). I also asked an older female member of staff.

There was a very unwell man who had serious health conditions and required urgent medical attention. The staff there acted quickly, efficiently, empathically. They immediately sought out medically trained professionals to the scene while battling to get an ambulance.

My experience of this store is positive, impressed.

The store itself; the food isles, were well stocked and displayed, easy access throughout, helpful attentive staff, clean, fantastic variety, good competitive prices, well detailed information on packaging.

Would recommend this store to everyone.”
