Didn’t have high expectations when I saw the laminated menu but a very pleasant surprise. The liver and black pudding with bacon was excellent and came with mountains of vegetable as well, tasting just made and home-cooked. Service was excellent everyone very welcoming and smiling.

We area family run pub and restaurant with extensive beer garden, located in the picturesque Shincliffe Village on the banks of the River Wear.
Since 2005 the pub has been run by the Harris family with the aim of providing top quality home cooked food in a relaxed environment. Working together with our head chef we have created a menu of great British dishes and daily specials. During the week in addition to our main menu we also offer our ever popular lite bite set menu until 7:00pm. Don't forget to look out for our Chef's specials which are available on the blackboards all week.
In the bar we always have a great selection of real ales available to complement our selection of lagers and wines and well behaved dogs are always welcome!
