Northbound side. Gentleman this morning made a perfect flat white oat milk. Had a lemon muffin, delicious. Blueberry also good. They however never have that breakfast wrap in stock it seems. Atmosphere is what you'd guess for a train station, but quiet and warm.

The woman works there always make me feel unwelcome and I avoid using it as much as I can if I find her working at the counter. The way she looks at customers seems she?s either (always) having a bad day or every single customer is simply bothering her.

Very poor. They said that they do not stock any vegan sandwiches, which is frankly not acceptable at this point. The female staff were okay but borderline hostile, and I saw them pat a dog and then proceed to handle food and drink items without first washing their hands. Avoid.

I use the north side Costa maybe once or twice a week. I'd maybe go more if the staff weren't so miserable. I always feel like I'm putting them out. You never get a hello or a smile. One woman just looks down her nose at you. It's quite expensive but I wouldn't mind handing my money over if I felt like a valued customer. I've spent a lot of money over many years. Be polite or get a new job if this one doesn't work for you.

Remarkable service - I nearly missed my train and the staff here made sure to be considerate and not make small talk or any delays. The train station staff should learn from these remarkable ladies when treating customers with care and respect!

60 minutes after opening time on South bound platform staff there but they had the shutter down despite customers waiting. Greggs open so saved the day for me - husband left without coffee waiting for his train (but LNER buffet car was open).

Got some light lunch before heading home, the staff are always quite friendly here. A lot of the times the hot food fridge isn't working but it was today and got a breakfast wrap for 4.75 which was quite reasonable, as it was packed with two sausages, bacon, ketchup and eggs. Also got a peach iced tea cooler which I always get, not sure if it's better than the one at Starbucks but it's 3.10 for the medium sized which is pretty good.

Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, made my trip much easier. Would recommend popping in and chatting and taking away the food and beverages you need and for them travelling

Stopped for a drink and cake at lunch time on a Saturday. Was given the wrong tea and the crockery was stained. Toilets needed cleaning and one tap did not work whilst another sink was blocked. Lack of staff to clear and clean the tables.

Coffee is coffee, so no problem there. Unpleasantly argumentative red haired lady serving coffee was a problem. Iced white Americano was served with sugar added in which I didn't ask for nor was asked it about. When I came back, I was met with a barrage of loud arguments that this is how it's meant to be served. Durham coffee shop must be unique, cause this is not how this drink is served in London or elsewhere in the UK or other countries and you're always asked if you want sugar added anyway, unless the drink is already meant to be sweet. Retraining in customer service combined with a change in attitude is recommended.

I always fall for it, I pay £3.00 ish for a paper cup full of warm liquid that does not even resemble coffee.

Not the most appealing building from the outside and whilst the inside is spacious, there is a strong musty smell. The ambiance is not improved by the stark lighting. Seating is fine and one staff member was meticulously going round, cleaning everything in sight and topping things up. It was early afternoon when we went and the food available, was virtually zero. We had a choice of a Tuna & Sweetcorn, a Tuna & Sweetcorn sandwich, or we could have had a Tuna & Sweetcorn sandwich. Not just any old Tuna & Sweetcorn sandwich but an M & S Tuna & Sweetcorn sandwich. It was a good job that we like Tuna & Sweetcorn sandwiches. Coffee was the usual Costa's offering. Ladies and Gents toilets are inside the building but the disabled toilet is outside. It's worth popping in if you are desperate, otherwise keep on driving.

The staff at this place appear to be fighting an uphill battle against the utter indifference of the Moto organisation. I have visited this place intermittently for over 30 years and whilst it has always reminded me of some Eastern Bloc servery, I don't think it even qualifies as that now. No shop, sandwiches at their date limit, dead insects on the window sills. Dire, bleak. On our way back to the car we noticed a McDonalds. Not a plce we would normally visit, but I'm sure, much superior to where we had been.

We stopped for breakfast en-route to Scotland. Two medium drinks, a bacon bap and a sausage bap for £10 in total. The lady who served us was pleasant, the tables and toilets were clean. It was good value, clean and not busy (7.30 Sunday morning), what more could you want.
