We have reason to believe PETER WILLIAM HARRIS of Lower Audley Rd, Torquay, who trades under the umbrella of Keyebuild works at this hotel.
This rogue trader had fraudulently acquired money from several victims who have entrusted him to do building and maintenance work. This work has not been completed, leaving victims massively out of pocket and seeking professionals to complete the work at extra cost. He has been trading as an ?undischarged bankrupt? which is a criminal offence. He has conned several victims including myself, local churches, priests, a renowned estate agent and others to boot!
All evidence has been submitted by parties and HARRIS has been interviewed by the criminal insolvency department.
It is now we can go public to warn others to steer clear of a poor excuse of a man with no morals whatsoever. We are now awaiting a court date as all evidence has been submitted for prosecution.
Please, do not let this man convince you to take on his services. If you know of anyone considering him to do work for them, please warn them off. We have suspicions he is still active.

Attended a funeral wake at the hotel and now have received a parking charge notice from smart parking. Spoke to someone on the telephone at the hotel and they were extremely unhelpful. I was told I should have validated my car number but when I attended the hotel was closed except for events and there was nobody on reception to notify me/show me how I should validate my car number. Nearly all car parking bays were empty and once I read the on sign that parking was reserved for guests of the hotel I didn?t read further and went into the hotel. Could be a very expensive wake for a pair of pensioners. I have lived in Torquay all my life and never had to pay previously for parking at the Osborne. Evidently this process was instigated in 2022. Unfortunately the Osborne has subcontracted the management of parking to a firm that has poor reviews and therefore the Osborne should be judged similarly.

Beautiful deco, Party and location but was disappointed when having a 3 course meal and then had food poisoning. Called the hotel to let them know and wasn?t even asked what I?d eaten or my name?? I wasn?t the only one to fall ill from our party and shame it wasn?t taken seriously. I have had food poisoning once before and was definitely the same symptoms. Has definitely put me off eating here. Paid £45 per head.

We spent a 3 day Xmas break at the Osborne and could not fault anything. The food was superb. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Becky was amazing and looked after us like we were family and made it a wonderful stay, Matt was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend a stay at the Osborne to anyone and look forward to visiting the hotel again soon.

We dined at The Crescent for their Christmastide menu on Christmas Eve. We were warmly greeted by Jade at reception, and Becky in the bar. The hotel reception and restaurant were beautifully decorated with festive cheer. We were well looked after by Matt, he is a credit to the restaurant, outstanding service and always with a smile, nothing was too much trouble. He was very knowledgable about the menu, from where the ingredients are sourced, to the methods the Chef?s used to create these stunning dishes, you could see his passion shining through. We began our festive 7 course culinary journey with warm sage focaccia and onion butter, handmade and absolutely delicious, I could have eaten the whole loaf!I opted for the Spiced Ham Hock Terrine Bon Bon with warm pea pudding and farmer?s market chutney for my entrée, in one word it was outstanding! The combination of all three elements was a flavour sensation, they all complemented each other so beautifully. I didn?t leave a trace of that pea pudding on my plate, it was delightful! Our next treat was the mulled wine jelly with pickled grapes, wow! The jelly packed a spiced boozy punch, with a fabulously fruity and piquant taste left on the palate from those lovely grapes. For my main I chose the Turkey Schnitzel with chestnut purée, cranberry jus, Brussels and a leek, cabbage and pancetta fricassee. The Turkey was moist and delicately cooked and the breading was incredible, paired with the fricassee it was perfection. I adored the chestnut purée, it was silky smooth with a lovely nutty finish, the cranberry jus was fabulous with a real depth of flavour. Our next delight was the homemade peppermint sorbet with dark chocolate and mint gel. What a palate cleanser! It tasted just like an after eight but 100x more decadent. The chocolate was beautifully tempered with a lovely snap. For my dessert I chose the Spiced Orange Tart with candied satsuma, raspberry meringue and sugar plum. Yes it was even more delicious than it sounds, if that?s possible! Visually, the dish was beautifully put together, the orange curd was delectable, the candied satsuma was absolutely bursting with flavour and the sweet raspberry meringue melted in your mouth! This was my first time trying a sugar plum and it certainly won?t be my last, what a toothsome treat. To finish our festive meal and rest our full, happy bellies, we enjoyed minced pies and tea and coffee.I was throughly impressed with our meal, the food was perfection and of Michelin quality. I have previously dined at The Elephant for their winter tasting menu, and this menu was even better. The care, love and hard work put into every single element of this menu was clear to see. It?s wonderful to have such a remarkable and wondrous fine-dining restaurant just a stones through away from the bustle of Torquay town in beautiful Meadfoot. I would highly recommend dining at The Crescent, incredible food, wonderful service and we were made to feel so special.A huge thank you to Chef David, Debbie, Josh and Emily all working so hard in the kitchen to make our meal such a memorable one. We will keep returning!

Spent the day here at a Charity function today. Very low quality food. Basic sandwich and salad and quiche and not enough to serve all the guests. 66 people attended, 70 were booked and paid for. When more food was requested, what arrived, after a very long wait,,was stale breadsticks and crudités without a dip.A teapot serving 2 small cups was given for our table of 7. When we asked for more tea we were told no more was allowed. Our hosts who hosted the event had to clear the tables themselves as the staff were nowhere to be seen. The hosts resorted to a supermarket trip themselves to feed the remaining guests. I have never seen such poor service. Supervisor was rude and unhelpful. Our hosts have kindly offered their guests a ticket refund- I sincerely hope the hotel do the right thing and refund our hosts! Such a shame for such a lovely location.

Talented chef sending out exceptionally tasty & good value Sunday lunches. Though obviously understaffed during a busy service, we were well looked after by Jason & Bella.Looking forward to next time!Food & drinks: Ham hock terrine was delicious, as was the roast beef. Wine list could be a bit more adventurous.

We have just got married at The Osborne, what a day! From start to finish the service was first class, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was amazing with absolutely breath taking views. Room service food always arrived looking fresh and was hot. Special thanks to Haidee for helping it run so smoothly on the day, Jason for always having a big smile on his face, Carol for answering my many emails and Emily for being an all round nice human. What a team!Wish we could do it all againVic & Kieron x

standout features included its convenient location, although having a car was necessary. The staff members were friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast was excellent. On the downside, the room was dated , with a broken window covered in paper and tape, and it could have been cleaner. Despite the minor issues we would definitely stay there again

The food in the restaurant was lovely, we was worried as some reviews had commented that it was awful. Breakfast came within the cost of our room and there is a wide selection from full English down to sausage or bacon sandwiches. We stayed while attending a function and arrived at about 3.30pm we were allocated room 126 which when first entering looked nice but after a few seconds we could see there was problems. 1 pain of the window was taped up with masking tape and which we found out when checking out was work in progress but I could have done a better job myself, the bathroom sink had no plug release so we had to manually lift it to drain the dirty water and the drain stunk like eggs , there was a clump of hair near the little table by the bathroom door , and when they say inland view all we got was some dead plants and a dirty roof which looked like it was in the middle of the building i presume an unusable terrace.when we were about to leave the room I thought it would be an idea to check the mattress as it felt like I had been sleeping on a plank all night it was orange in colour very worn out and there was a visible dip proving that it is well past its sell by date , when laying on it you could feel every single spring. When checking out I raised these points with the duty manager on the desk and she made note of these things and said she would raise this with the maintenence staff, we had a very small balance for 2 drinks which was just over £6 , she took the payment off of the card given when checking in which I was a little taken aback by as considering how much was wrong with our room I thought she might have said we will waiver the charge but mo such luck. The staff are all lovely but the room really took the shine off of our stay. Hopefully they will fix these issues but I very much doubt it , yes they have updated the rooms but whoever did the maintenance really needs to get some training as the have not really got a clue , surely when refurbishment of a hotel room is being done longevity of the products used need to be taken into account as they will need to be fixed or replaced sooner.

We recently stayed in Torquay and ate at The Terrace at The Osborne Hotel. This is a superb location for informal dining and we returned a number of times due in no small part to the excellent customer service we received from Amanda, who obviously takes great pride in ensuring visitors and diners are not only made welcome but also receive high customer focused attention. The food was of a good standard (and particularly good when a lady chef covered one day - I'm sorry I didn't get her name but her food was outstanding!). Our visits were enhanced by a week of late summer sunshine which added to the amazing views and overall relaxed but thoroughly professional atmosphere of this unique location. Many thanks to The Osborne and 10/10 Amanda - you were brilliant!
