“Amazing Afternoon Tea What an incredible afternoon tea we had at Cedar manor for our anniversary treat. The welcome we received was special and the attention to detail with the presentation of the afternoon was really lovely . The little starter was a lovely touch along with the beautiful selection of sandwiches and cakes and pastries. We enjoyed the Prosecco deal and thought it was value for money. Thank you so much… a special memory to savour.”

“We arrived at the Royal Oak at the end of a very long day of hiking. It was such a welcoming place to arrive. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were quickly explained and we were taken to our rooms where we could get our packs off and try to recover. It had been explained to us that it was part of our booking to eat dinner at the pub/hotel, and while we would have done that anyway, I was nervous that the food would not be up to par. I was so wrong. The food was wonderful. It was slightly higher end than we expected and was absolutely delicious. All four in our group commented on how nice it was to get something different from the excellent pub grub we had been eating. Breakfast was equally good and they had an amazing coffee maker that allowed me to get a decaf flat white to start the day.”

“We got married here and the experience of the Merewood was better than expected. The rooms and public areas were clean and comfortable as you would expect but the staff were very professional and always went above and beyond from managers to barmen/waitresses to housekeeping. All fantastic. The food was perfect and cooked to a high standard. The way our wedding rooms were set up for the occasion were done exactly how we asked but it looked so much better than what we had in our heads. These guys know what they are doing, the whole experience from being shown around on day 1 to checking out as husband and wife was stress free. Highly recommended!”

“We booked up two nights here on 13 and 14 September and were given room No 2. This room was in the old part of the hotel which is hundreds of years old. The whole place is just like a typical picture postcard scene. A superb luxurious hotel in brilliant well kept grounds. The views of Lake Windermere and the distant hillside from the hotel is just spectacular. The car park here is enormous and they do have an area for disabled if required. We were on a bed and breakfast basis but actually did eat in the hotel for an evening meal in the bar area on our last night. Breakfast was superb everyday but the one real negative for us was dogs being allowed in the breakfast area!!!! When we arrived we found out the place was actually dog friendly but dogs are not allowed in the restaurant areas but this did not seem to cover the breakfast area? Oh well that was our only negative. The food at breakfast and our evening meal were simply superb and could not be faulted. The staff are so polite and made us feel very much at home. Our bedroom was excellent and had everything we wanted including a small jar of sweets which we thought was a lovely touch. We would both highly recommend and would certainly stay here again if up this way.”
