Nothing special, didn't even bother to get out of the car

There's a lovely walk along from Ravenglass, we walked to the Roman Baths, which are beautiful and up the the trail to Muncaster Castle. We walked it in about 2 hours, with lots of stopping and then enjoyed a delicious meal at The Ravenglass Inn. The walk was easily, sometimes uphill, mossy and foresty and had great views of the West Coast :)

We walked from Muncaster Castle to the Roman Bathhouse, which is a pleasant walk in itself (and you can park for free). I feel a bit mean giving this poor place only three stars, but this is a reflection of its current state - there are sections that are propped up by supports and metal railings cover other parts. Still, it's around 2000 years old, and in that sense it's doing pretty well! My low(ish) score is also to help manage expectations rather than anything else. The building's archaeological and historical importance is probably lost on many visitors, but this is all that remains of a thriving Roman fort and attached settlement, and in that sense, it deserves a much higher score. However, anyone making a trip specifically to see a Roman bathhouse may be disappointed. As a fan of archaeology and history, I found it fascinating! Note: the photos I took were strategically positioned to exclude the supports and metal fencing.

Well, how to rate a 2000 year old building. As previous posts have said, go here if you?re passing but hardly worth traveling far for.The temporary security fence is pretty awful and really stops you getting a good photo. But in saying all that, it?s amazing that these structures remain and should be protected, and excavated.Let?s hope funds become available.

It is great that we are able to still visit structures of this age. Information boards tell you very little about the baths. The site is fenced off and the nature of the fencing makes it difficult to take photos. Well worth a short detour from the village if you are here but you may be disappointed if travelling any distance for the specific purpose of visiting the baths.

Historic place....pity about the metal fencing. Understand it needs protecting but there must be more sympathetic ways.

Lovely landmark and description board. Shame it was all fenced off with lots of ingot fencing.

UNESCO world heritage site in Ravenglass. Only partial parts of the walls remain. Walkable distance from raven glass train station.

Currently has fences around it so can?t walk around it but can still see it and read some of the information. Lovely place to stop off on a walk around the coast of Ravenglass.

Very little information on the signs, nothing to tell you what part of the bath house you are looking at. Metal fences have been put over the openings in the walls which detracts from the overall appearance.

Worth walking along to if you're in the area. The metal fencing covering parts seems like a very halfhearted 'protection' and detracts from the otherwise impressive ruins. A wander past can be incorporated into a longer walk too as the trail keeps on going.

I wouldn't go out of my way to see this. You have to park and walk about 15 mins, and it's a single building mainly covered in gates because it's falling down. You'll be fine looking at it in 2 mins

Its free, easily accessible along a wide footpath with history back to Roman times & interpretive signs

Not much to see really. But interesting. It felt like a long drive to spend 15 minutes here.

A pleasant walk up from Ravenglass village, through woods along a lane, brings you to Ravenglass Roman Baths. Not a whole lot to see but some of the structure is still standing, unbelievably, and the information boards are well worth the walk to stop and read.Worth taking the time to walk and see. An important part of our history from some 2,000 years ago!!!
