From Gilpin Bridge Inn

The Gilpin Bridge Inn, started in the 17th century as a coaching inn and records show that it was closed in the early 1900's dues to 'immoral use!!'. In 1872, The Westmorland Gazette reported, on the sale of the farm and innkeepers plant. The farm buildings are now the cottages adjoining the inn. After this, The Gilpin has been a shop, a transport cafe and finally, re-furbished as an inn when a Mr David Allan purchased the property. After a succession of owners, including, Tetley's. The Gilpin was bought by the Robinsons family brewery who in the infinite wisdom, have allowed us (Scott, Claire, Debbie and co) to put it back on the map, where this wonderful inn belongs.
